Shirt for job interview?

I was wondering what you all thought about this - I have an interview at a company well known for being fairly formal: the men wear shirts and ties, and the women tend to wear nice outfits or shirts as well as heels in their day to day work. I will wear one of two suits (one grey wool, one black, still deciding!) but was wondering if you'd also advise wearing a shirt underneath, or if a nice top without a collar would be fine? My shirts is white (although with thin black strips) and I am worried that putting that with a grey or black suit (both skirt shoes) will look a little paint by numbers and too formal if that makes sense. Especially as my better fitting suit (the grey one) is quite old and while it still looks good it has not ounce of particular style about it - esp as the skirt is a little long (just below the knees).

I have the shirt - if I decide not to wear it I'll have to buy something else as everything I have is a bit bold or floral.

WWYD?

I would probably get a different blouse, something quite smart but more modern.
H&M do a draped, wrap-effect blouse at the moment which looks great (I may have bought it in white and in black).

Or maybe something in a light fabric with a pussy bow?

I would get a new shirt - try T M Lewin. Good luck :(

I'd buy a new shirt, too. Uniqlo are doing some beautiful silk shirts for £30, so you could get one of those. They also sell lovely cotton rich shirts for £30, that are very finely woven, called "broadcloth". Banana Republic have great shirts and blouses, too. & Other Stories and Cos both have interesting, modern, but work appropriate tops, too.

Beware the static and electric shocks from polyester, though, if you get a polyester top.

Good luck!
