Please help me fill the 'tops' gap in my wardrobe

I'm average height, busty, size 12 top, 10 bottom, deep winter colouring with pale skin and I'm sorting out my wardrobe from scratch.

I have lots of bottoms but have realised since downloading the stylebook app so I. An see what I have in one place that all of my tops are either knits or tee shirts and vests.

I'm looking for stuff to wear under jackets or cardigans and I'm not sure where to start.

What neckline for example? The busty part is difficult with buttons and I find shirts very manly and shapeless unless they're fitted but not sure where to look on the high street. I need to try them on so no online-only shops please.

No empire lines, nothing baggy - shall I stick with knits? I have a classic style personality but would like to soften the tailored look a bit.
Thanks!

Dressipi would be a good site for you, I seem to bang on about it all the time on here but I love the way i shop now, I go on there and after entering all my info it comes up with ideas for me so id click on tops/ shoes, trousers etc. then it would take me to the website and i can buy them directly. without me having to go round every shop trying things on I can just see how they would suit my body shape, it makes it easier that everything is picked to suit you anyway.

I'm a similar shape and stay away from shirts, blouses etc, because no matter how hard I try, they just never look right on me!

I wear the same types of tops as you, but in nice fabrics. I tend to buy mainly v-necks, or polo-necks in winter and I generally wear a scarf of some description, unless the weather is really hot.

They all look fine with cardigans and jackets. In fact that's my usual look - top, jeans, scarf and jacket or top, pencil/denim skirt and cardigan!
In summer, I often wear a shirt open over a vest top, with the sleeves rolled up, in place of a jacket.

I tend to wear mainly neutrals with one "bright" or textured piece. My style personality is dramatic classic Smile

Have you thought about fitted tank tops? Like this?? Great to wear with gaping shirts.

Layering is always a good idea for the busty. I usually wear a longline top or jumper and wear a floaty blouse on top of it. You still get a fitted silhouette and the upper layer avoids a "trussed-up boobs" look. This without the crop maybe?

Even this....??

Thanks, good ideas there. I have to concede I'm better in knits.
