Fake eyelashes?! Yay or nay?

I have never worn fake eye lashes in my whole life.

I am going to a big event and it has been suggested that I might like to wear them!!

What if I rub my eyes, will they come off? What about if I hate them... Can I pull them off? I'm having make up done by a make up artist (first time for everything) so at least it will be done properly.
Could I be allergic to the glue? Never been to a big event like this before but if my photo is being taken I want to look half decent!

I have seen someone at work that wears them. Tbh, they look fake to me...like camel lashes!! Im mesmerised by them..but not in a good way.

TessTackle · 19/10/2014 20:23

There are all sorts of styles, varying lengths and thickness. You could try individual ones, they look more natural.
Not all of them look like camels Grin

I think they all look fake and anytime I have tried them, individual or strips, they come straight back off as they just look far too wrong to me. They also feel weird...

Better with a great mascara and learning how to put it on well.

I wear individual lashes applied at a salon. They last three weeks between infills. They dont look fake, just like i have luckily long eyelashes of my own.

Any chance you could try some before your big event? I tried a few times but found them quite annoying.

They can look lovely as long as they are not too long.
If applied properly they can completely change an individual's appearance for the better I would use individusl lashes .

HermioneWeasley · 19/10/2014 20:35

Agree, individual lashes are the best

First time I wore fake eyelashes yesterday and loved them :D

it depends on the lashes..

Strip lashes are the ones that look very fake and not very flattering, however individuals when applied by a qualified therapist or make up artist can look really nice as they will have various lengths and styles and will use a variety to achieve a look that suits the occasion/eye shape/make-up etc.

You will have to have the glue patch tested 48 hours prior to wanting the lashes done, they usually just apply a bit to your inner elbow or behind the ear to ensure no allergies to the glue.

There fairly easy to remove with lash remover which is much kinder to lashes than just pulling them off!

Give them a try, just ask for them to look natural if you've never have them before, you can also just have a few at the outer corners to add a bit of flare and length if you don't want a full set.

They look great Emma Smile

I'd have to try and contact the make up artist and ask... I have no details for her so will have to go through the company that's arranged it all.

I feel so stressed by it... I know it's only a pair of eyelashes but the whole thing is scaring me! Blush

Ardell wispies are v natural and lovely. Cheap stiff dense ones are not!

They look bad when they have a thick black strip with no eyeliner bridging the gap to the corner of the eye!

I've worn individual lashes and it looks great, although IMO too much to wear every day. I think that individual lashes look a bit more natural than strip lashes.

If a makeup artist is applying them, then I'm pretty sure he/she will use a good glue that you will not be allergic to.

When I wore individual ones, I could rub my eyes gently. I didn't try to pull the lashes off as they were attached to my natural lashes, but they came off really easily with makeup remover.
The strip lashes are attached to the lid, not the natural lashes, so you should be able to pull them off if you want to. I used the Revlon lashes and the Revlon glue, but I think most makeup artists use Duo glue.

Lisa Eldridge did a couple of videos about lashes years ago with loads of information and help on how to apply them - you might find them helpful. I used the individual lash video when I wanted to learn to apply lashes and it was really helpful.
