Ok, I need to buy a secret Santa present for a woman at work. She is new and I don't know her v well. At my work secret Santa Has sort of escalated into a a behemoth where it has to be v personal and special and reflect that person's quirks and idiosyncrasies.....I know

So as I say I don't know this person v well but she does have v beautiful long hair which is her pride and joy. I was thinking maybe I could get her a selection of nice hair stuff....budget £20-30...is this a good idea or not? And any ideas for what I can include??

Thing is, if her hair is her pride and joy she was probably have particular products she likes using already. What about buying her a voucher for a blow dry at a blow dry bar? Or is voucher too impersonal?

I was thinking of starting a very similar thread. Teen DDs still have bath shower gell from last year, it's shampoo, conditioner, detangling/heat spray etc. they actually use. Suggestions for something a bit special would be appreciated here too.

Hmm, voucher no good, there is a huge ceremonial opening of the secret Santas at the Xmas night out, accompanied by a complex protocol of guessing the present giver, it has to be extravagantly wrapped and have a wow factor upon opening.....I know what you mean about how she is already looking after it, but she is only about 23/24 and so I think it's a bit effortlessly lovely.....

Also she's newly qualified so might not be able to afford luxe/£££ products.

Aah in that case, good plan. Was imagining her in her 30s and set in her product ways!

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2014 12:44

Why would she not be able to afford nice hair products if newly qualified?! I'd get some nice sparkly hair bands/slides/grips. Maybe a Tangle Teezer but in a sparkly shade.

SuperFlyHigh · 19/10/2014 12:44

If she'd use it often salons round Christmas have glitter/sheen sprays with gold etc in them.

susannahmoodie · 19/10/2014 16:24

A sparkly tangle teaser, really?! I'm sure that's something my 10yr old cousin would like. I remember being newly qualified therefore on a low(er) wage therefore unable to buy luxurious treatments.

What about that Nuxe oil with the gold sparkle in? Can you use that on hair?

Yeah but lots of people I know prefer to buy their own hair stuff. I also has a friend who's allergic to lots of things (shampoos included) and a lovely honey Le Petit Marseillaise conditioner I gave to her she couldn't use.

What I would do if I were you is maybe ask her what she uses then you could get that. or a Christmas variety of that as often brands have that seasonaly IIRC.

MrsMillions · 19/10/2014 20:20

A chat along the lines of "I love your hair, what do you use on it?" might reveal if she has any allergy issues as well as indicating if she already has a favourite fancy brand or gets it on the cheap (lucky lady).

andadietcoke · 19/10/2014 20:28

Shu Uemura hair gloss is lovely and smells amazing. It's also not treatment-y so no risk of causing offence!

Am also a bit obsessed with invisibobbles - they don't snag your hair, don't leave a mark, and come in lots of colours.

MyFirstName · 19/10/2014 21:38

Buy her something for her hair from a local salon and attach a gift receipt so she can return it/swap it if she wants?

Housewife2010 · 20/10/2014 10:52

www.youbeautydiscovery.co.uk/luxury-boxes/philip-kingsley-repair-protect-limited-edition-box.html £16.95 but worth over £60 & you could get her something to go with it?
