Cheap(ish) jeans for transitioning figure please?

That's an intermediate dress size, not any other trans-based thing, just in case it looks like it! Please could anyone recommend a high street shop where I could get jeans for around £20-£30 while I'm losing weight? I'm going away on Friday and I've drawn a blank, my size 14s are droopy and unflattering but I need a large 12 to take away. Thank you for any help.

I highly recommend New Look super soft skinnies. They really really stretch (but don't bag) so a 12 should be good on you. cost about £20 so won't break the bank. I started buying them when I was losing weight instead of more expensive jeans.

sleeplessbunny · 18/10/2014 21:40

I am in a similar position, post DC2 and still changing shape. I found these at a local factory clearance sale and they are fab. Really stretchy and just seem to have the extra inch or so in the right places that my "normal" clothes are missing. I have now ordered a second pair Smile

Ooh, thank you Mumelie, that's great, I'll go and have a look. I want something more jeans than jeggings. I've got quite a small waist, big hips and thighs but fairly well-shaped legs. I'll be on my own in a rather conservative country for a week so I need to avoid the sprayed-on look!

Good old sainsburys 'tu' love their jeans :)

anothercrackatit · 18/10/2014 21:43

Thank you sleepless, I'll have a look. Do you think they'd suit my shape?

They look super-flared in that picture. They are not, they just hide the first inch or two of my foot.

anothercrackatit · 18/10/2014 21:44

Wannabe I bought some Tu jeggings but they've gone droopy very quickly, am I just unlucky?

I really recommend M&S; the jeans are usually high-waisted & give good stomach support - I wear the straight style, which are only £15 just now - just as good quality as Gap (where I used to go until I discovered M&S). They also have slim fit, skinnies, jeggings etc

NormHonal · 18/10/2014 21:47

M&S jeggings (in denim, not the coloured finishes) have been my saviour during a similar period.

I also got lucky in TKMaxx once. American brands/sizing sometimes work better.

wannabestressfree · 18/10/2014 21:48

I like their jeans but I had similar problems with the leggings (the cheaper ones). They did some super soft plush ones which lasted me for ages.

sleeplessbunny · 18/10/2014 21:49

not sure what your shape is from your op. I am on the way (hopefully) from a 12 to a (thick-waisted) 10, but I'm currently carrying post dc bum and thigh flab which these seem to hide beautifully.

sleeplessbunny · 18/10/2014 21:52

sorry just found it. Might be big in the waist for you

Ujjayi · 18/10/2014 21:53

Next Relaxed Skinny are good for when you're losing weight IME. At my biggest they were a snug fit and became flatteringly loose as my weight dropped - and basically fitted the way they should have done!

Ujjayi · 18/10/2014 21:56

Meant to say, I got away with a size smaller than I actually was because they are a roomier fit thru the thigh than most slim cut styles.

anothercrackatit · 18/10/2014 23:58

Thanks everyone, that's great. Ill try M&S, Next and New Look on Monday and hopefully fit into something. If not I'll try Tu although I hate the fact that they don't have changing rooms. Is that just my small sainsbury's or all of them? I'm very happily looking forward to losing the baggy-bottomed look!

OP posts:
wannabestressfree · 19/10/2014 06:41

I think there are changing rooms in all larger ones. There is in ours.

anothercrackatit · 19/10/2014 23:34

Thank you wannabe, I'll seek out a larger store.

Uniqlo if you are in the SE.

mathanxiety · 20/10/2014 06:05

Find a good charity shop instead of spending on jeans you might be sorry to shrink out of.

lurkingfromhome · 20/10/2014 08:32

I got some lovely khaki ones in Primark for £8!

anothercrackatit · 20/10/2014 10:22

I had been looking in charity shops but had no luck, unfortunately, and need to get something now sharpish! I am in the SE but not in a town with either a Primark or a Uniqulo, sadly. I tried running today and apparently have also "grown out of" my sports bra. It's an expensive business, losing weight isn't it?

Oly4 · 21/10/2014 20:33

I'm post dc2 and living in m&s 20 quid stretch jeans while my old ones fit. They are brilliant

Madaboutthrows · 21/10/2014 21:28

Dotty ps sell jeans for fiveteen quid I think

anothercrackatit · 22/10/2014 08:32

I've been feeling rather under the weather and wrestling into jeans in changing rooms kept bringing me out in a sweat (sorry, tmi!) so I've just bought some leggings which I will at least be able to travel in. I'll go back and have another go when I'm feeling better and hopefully a little smaller as well!

I am in a similar state another nearly 4 stone down but have had to alter / buy a whole new wardrobe, so yes bloody expensive but fun still a stone to stone and a half to go so have tried to buy cheaply and suprisingly my fave jeans are a black pair I got from New look (online) that are high waisted but skinny, and a £7 pair in Primark in Blue and a pair in grey. SIZE 14 Smile which believe me from a prior size 22 heifer is really really a good feeling... especially as DS1 (21) borrowed a pair to wear out on Sat night Grin
