Sorel boots

Hi

Has anyone tried Sorel boots? I am in need of some waterproof, warm and semi stylish boots and these seem to fit the bill. They are a bit expensive though so looking to see of anyone had them.

Do they last ok or fall apart quickly?

Are they as warm as they look? Are they comfy?

Thank you

I have some, they are very warm but a casual/functional boot and not very smart IMO. Merrel do smarter options.

My toddler had some sorels snow boots, they were good quality.

I have these, they are amazingly comfy and cushioned, waterproof and there is space for socks even with my wide feet. They are beautifully made.
I also have an ancient pair similar to these, which I wore constantly when working in the mountains. They must be 10 plus years and still get pulled out if/when it snows here - they are super warm and non slip. I reckon they'll out last me!

I have a pair that I bought circa 1997 Blush . They are not of the stylish type more popular now, more like the link above.... However they are bloody amazing, lasted (obviously) and are sooo warm and practical. A good friend has some Joan of arc ones and really rates them. They are made for the Canadian market so have to meet the exacting standards of people who have to cope with seriously cold weather...

We live in Norway. DD & I both have the Joan of Arcs. They last 2 years for her, worn most days for 3 months a year. I have had mine for ages...

I am a huge Sorel fan! I've had mine for three years. I live in Switzerland and almost live in them from October until March. I have the traditional yellow leather ones. They are a little wide but OK. I love the Joan of Artic ones and if mine would show signs of wear, I would update them. I love the red ones too but they seem a little less warm.
My kids have worn Sorels too for the last five years as when we walked to school in the snow in Yorkshire they never once complained of cold feet. They have been passed down too and worn by all three children and even sold on afterwards!!

I have the joan of arctic grey boots- 4years ol now I think- got me through a winter heavily pregnant too- very warm and good grip and I wear them dressed up for the pub in winter too- always lots of compliments!

I have the Tofino:

I tried the Joan of Arcs and the Caribou which seem to be the style most main places stock, and found them very heavy, also the reviews at the time for the Caribou said they rubbed at the heel which I could feel might happen.
I feel the cold terribly, but the Tofino saw me through the snowy winters the last few years fine (bought them the year of the first snowfall as I couldn't bear my cold feet).
I also wear a lot of black, so aesthetcially found these nicer. The only thing I don't like so much is the cheap teddy bear trim but it does work at keeping the heat in.

ZaraW · 19/10/2014 14:46

I have the Tofino's they were 50% off in the sale they are lovely. I wear with black skinny jeans. I was looking at Joan of Artic but reviews said they were not comfortable to walk long distances in.

foolssilver · 19/10/2014 14:52

Thanks everyone, sounds like they are just what I am looking for.

I can't decide between the Pac 2 and Joan of Arc. Going to order both and give them a try round the house.

I have two pairs - one is the classic Caribou model which is heavy and not amazing to walk very far in - but it does keep your feet warm in very cold weather.
The other pair is with a nylon shaft and they are really light compared to the classic model with the leather shaft. They are nice to walk far in.

The ones with the nylon are around 10 years old, and the Caribou ones are 2-3 years old. I've used both pairs in cold Swiss winters and have been standing in snowy fields in the mountains training the dog and I was very comfortable and not cold at all.

My dad had a pair of Caribous that he used for going in the fields and he found them way too heavy to walk in.

What is the sizing like on Sorel boots? I've seen somewhere to size up, but I have in betweeny feet so I don't know whether to go for a 6.5, 7 or 7.5? I wear a 6 in converse chuck taylors, and a 6.5 in most other shoes. tia :)

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 20/10/2014 19:24

I just bought some sorel snow boots last week and I had to go up a size Hoooooooound

ZaraW · 20/10/2014 19:35

Mine are true to size maybe a tiny bit big but plenty of room to wear thick socks.
