Boots styles for short but calf-muscled individuals - currently I look like a piglet on stilts

So for my winter boot, according to every petite dressing blog, supposedly I need ankle boots and a pointy toe with delicate heel to suit my 5ft tall figure but this is Not Looking Good. I have quite short lower legs but I am a runner and have developed very well defined calf muscles so although I am not overweight my ankles are not "finely turned" but a kind of sturdy table leg. I think the effect is better if I skim over the ankle dip and create a smoother line with a boot that come at the lower or mid part of the calf. But apparently this is a big style no no. Am I deluding myself? Knee highs look like waders. What do other short runners wear?

Watching with interest!
I have some ankle boots that are deliberately baggy/gapey at the ankle and I prefer these to close fitting ones as they make my legs look less porcine.

Just had to comment, your post and its title made me snort Grin. V funny.

I am not buying boots this year (boo), I have to Get Wear Out Of Last Year's, (house stuff going on) dagnammit, so i have no links for you. But I do know what you mean about 'piglet on stilts', I feel the same in kitten heels. So I'm not sure I agree with the 'delicate heel' stuff, surely that would just accentuate the un-delicate ankle and calf? Block-ish heel makes more sense to me, and like dirtydog above, a gapey ankle. Or a biker boot?

Yes, mine have block heels-bit like short cowboy boots

Oh OP! Your post is very funny but I'm sure you look great. I've 5 inches on you but have runner's legs and these are comfortable an IMO flattering. They are loose at the top so add avoid the "porcine" look.

Yeah, I've got cyclist's legs so feel your pain. But I do have a nice ankle which I like to show off too, so I go for a blocky ankle boot - Ihaves description of short cowboy boots sounds about right.

Lonny you must do more cycling than me! My cycling legs are toned but not too muscly - noticed my thighs became slimmer & calves just a little bulkier when I started up again.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 15/10/2014 15:47

My post makes it sound like I'm doing the Tour! I think it's a combo of muscly calves, being short, tiny ankles and very small feet (size 3) which makes it so noticeable. Too many proportions on a very small bit of leg.

Thanks all.
I have gone for a fairly chunky biker style, calf length, slightly gapey with furry fluff round the top to soften the line. They are flat but with a decent sole. I think the proportions look good and they are warm and comfy. I now look like the piglet with no pennies.
I think that the received Best Boots Style for Shorties wisdom is in the "V necks suit big boobs" category of style diktat claptrap. We should do a thread on "Style rules that need binning".
