Trousers help for the small of waist, large of hip and strong of thigh, please!

Any suggestions gratefully received. I'm 5ft 5, mid thirties, very sporty. Waist 25inch, hips 36/37 inch, and muscly thighs. Skinny jeans just do not fit and emphasise the thighs. If they fit over the thighs of doom then the waist is huge. The few pairs that I bought, I've been able to take off without undoing, to give you an idea of the problem- they're clearly designed for (and look better on) slim legged, slim hipped, larger waisted folk.

I long for jeans that fit, don't gape. Any shape is ok but a little bit trendy is nice. Also work trousers- another problem area!

Thanks for sharing any wisdom

Thigh circumference at the very top of thigh 21 inches Shock

I have similar issues although my thigh circumference is more like 23" so I do sympathise.

Boden Chelsea turn ups are good as are Gap High Rise Skinnies, Gap Real Straight and Gap Sexy Boyfriend cords.

Thanks! I'll try Boden. Gap things are too big at the waist and bunch up with a belt, which is a shame because I love their style.

That's interesting. I have a 28" waist and 41" hips and I find their high rise skinnies pretty good on the gap front (no pun intended) Grin

wooly31 · 14/10/2014 21:33

Ah high rise! . Maybe that's the key to it. Thanks! Will check out the gap Grin

Similar issues (although I'm bigger) but I have about a 16" waist-hip difference. Levi's bold curve work, and I have a pair of high waisted next lift slim and shape which are bizarrely ok too. Otherwise - jeans are a nightmare!

M&S may have something among their multitude of styles - Per Una Roma seem designed for women with waists, hips and thighs. Try the straight leg ones maybe.

mamakoukla · 14/10/2014 21:43

Mavi do a number of styles, some of which have worked for me (Levi really curvy jeans - still had a gap)

StatisticallyChallenged · 14/10/2014 21:45

I think there are two rises on the bold curve - the ones with a low rise didn't work but the higher were ok.

Bunbaker · 14/10/2014 21:50

I have the same problem. My waist is 12" smaller than my hips. I currently own some Tu jeans from Sainsburys and a pair of Levi demi curve that both fit beautifully. M and S are surprisingly good at jeans for women with curves. My only gripe is that their jeans always shrink - in length as well as width.

I also find that straight leg jeans are far more flattering on me than skinnies.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 14/10/2014 22:05

I've got some fcuk Tiffany straight leg jeans that work for me. They were from a charity shop or tkmaxx so might not be possible to get them...

cheapskatemum · 14/10/2014 22:53

Another vote for Levis and you're right, high rise makes all the difference. I read with horror in The Independent on Sunday that low rise were coming back in fashion. Not for me.

Bunbaker · 14/10/2014 22:55

God, I loathe low rise trousers. They are so uncomfortable on me. Having a waistband cutting into my lower abdomen is painful.

Donteatthekidssweets · 14/10/2014 22:57

Vote here for the Levi curves. Boden definately don't work for me, tight on thighs and generally unflattering.

Thanks- sounds like a trip to Gap and Levi (outlet!). Any tips for where you might get work trousers with similar proportions please Smile
