Uniqlo knitwear...why dry clean??

It really hacks me off. I love their knitwear and then i look down to see that it is dry clean only. Totally puts me off. It totally defeats the amazing price of it. Does anyone just wash as normal???

I have a cashmere from there that I machine wash with all my others, it's fine! In fact I machine wash all my knitwear and have only had a mishap once (put it on the wrong cycle, shrunk, now belongs to DD Grin)

I handwash my Uniqlo cashmere, it's fine.

I have some of the extra fine merino. Never looked at label. I just wash it on delicate with woolite. It's always been fine.

just make sure you use a wool detergent.

Definitely no bio powders

Mine have all been going in the washing machine on a cold wool wash w Woolite for years. Ditto my wool coats.

Ok then...sounds good to me :)
Thank goodness for that!
I wonder why they mark it dry clean then!!??

Why they mark it as dry clean - if you wash and ruin it, you will go complain to Uniqlo. if you dry clean, you complain to drycleaners.

I can't remember which shop it was but I was told by a sales assistant that they sometimes put a dry clean label just to cover themselves and cut down on possible refunds - if it shrinks and it has a dry clean label on in, the customer can't really complain. Even though, the item is most likely fine in the washing machine.
I find it most common in cheap shops (like Uniqlo, who may use inferior fabrics, and bypass testing them properly for shrinkage) and weirdly the other end of the market, high end designer brands (probably because it would be an expensive refund!). Mid-range brands I tend to find most likely to be machine washable.
