I once saw a woman running on the treadmill in a maxi skirt Shock. The staff made her stop and asked her to change because of the trip hazzard.

grumblepuss · 13/10/2014 18:12

Make up, full make up at 9am - so not the dregs from being at work all day.
Then not getting sweaty in case the make up runs.
I don't take mine off before I go, but I certainly dont put it on specially.

BettyMoody · 13/10/2014 18:26

the same guy who wears the god piece pants wears LONG knee socks. they do something to injuries or something
looks like Bjorn borg in a bad way

just started a thread about this - that's unusual

50ShadesOfSummer · 13/10/2014 19:40

Maybe, Betty, it's not a cod-piece but padded cycling shorts? DH is a cyclist and wears them - can look like a bit cod piece like. However, I cannot forgive the long knee socks!

And as to those people wearing a sweat suits to lose weight. Yes, I'm sure you do: until you drink a glass of water and put it all back on.

Souper · 13/10/2014 21:01

I once saw someone working out in a silver sauna suit thingy. It was super shiney, like bacofoil. And every time she moved it made a noise like FFFFT, FFFFT, FFFFT. Grin

BettyMoody · 13/10/2014 21:05

Yup. You wouldn't wear in publiv though would you?

There's a girl at my gym wears a big wooly hat and gets on the scales with a rucksack on her back Confused wtf is that all about, most people ditch everything they can without indecently exposing themselves Grin

Some Muslim women in full headscarves and floor length robes, I know it's their religion but they must be so HOT...gap in the market there for someone, Lycra niquabs Smile!

A guy who looks like he comes in his lunch break from a building site, steel toe cap boots, jeans and t shirt (smells awful, obviously wears the same thing all day Envy)

Loula117 · 13/10/2014 21:08

There was a bit of a spate of woolly hat wearing at my old gym - really don't understand that. And an old lady who always wears an outdoor coat. I know they count as gym gear but I'm always put off by blokes who wear those vests with armholes down to their waist somewhere, yuk.

HazleNutt · 13/10/2014 21:48

A somewhat voluptuous woman was wearing a very tight thin leotard - luckily with shorts, not thong. Flesh-coloured. No patterns or seams or anything, but like one of those Spanx bodysuits. But the fabric was so thin it was clinging to and enhancing every single lump and bump. From any kind of distance, she looked like a huge, naked caterpillar.

Notabar · 13/10/2014 22:34

Oh God, I'm a total gym tramp. I wear an old teeshirt and a pair of ancient fruit of the loom men's joggers, as I cant stand 'gym gear' - its all too tight and revealing for me.

Luckily, my gym is a crappy local authority one, frequented mostly by over 65s and out of shape mums (like me), so nobody gives me funny looks Grin

BettyMoody · 13/10/2014 22:36

Ew to corton t shirts with sweat

Boden has a new gym-wear line on their website today. This.

There was a guy at my gym last week running in running shorts and a white dress shirt. I've never seen him before so I am assuming that he was in town on a trip and wanted to work out but realized that he had forgotten a gym shirt so went for it anyway in his work clothes. But he was sweating A LOT and it turns out that white dress shirts go see through and clingy when drenched in sweat….

Fabulassie · 14/10/2014 06:51

I wear plimsolls and sometimes converse at the gym. I am not running or jumping around, so why not? (I walk the stair climber and lift weights). I wear primark capri leggings and an oversize t shirt over a sports bra, so I otherwise look like I'm meant to be exercising.

BettyMoody · 14/10/2014 06:56

To shorts not the best for getting rid of sweat. A little unsanitary.
Plus converse not helping your knees

OP posts:
BettyMoody · 14/10/2014 06:56

T shirts.

Fabulassie · 14/10/2014 07:35

My knees don't need help. If I can walk all over town in rubber soled canvas shoes, then I can walk on the stair machine and do shoulder presses in them.

ooerrmissus · 14/10/2014 07:41

Not in the gym but I once dragged myself jogging round the park, feeling very smug and pleased with myself. Then I saw the two women jogging in full burqhas. God knows how they did it, made my effort seem ridiculous.

mejon · 14/10/2014 10:56

There's an elderly woman at my nearest gym -must be pushing 80 who wears normal trousers snd top with low-heeled wedge espadrille type shoes. She spends about 2 minutes on each machine then off she goes.

dinkystinky · 14/10/2014 11:00

Those uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugly special toe-trainers

peasandlove · 14/10/2014 11:05

man my gym is boring, never seen anyone in anything remotely interesting

kaykayblue · 14/10/2014 11:53

The anorak-esque sweat suits are very popular in China. One of my old flatmates used to have one. The theory is that you burn more calories due to the extra effort your body has to make to maintain a safe body temperature (it takes energy to produce sweat). Hers were more like dungarees though that you wear on top of normal sports clothes.

AnnoyingOrange · 14/10/2014 12:00

Lots of people wear loose clothing or even normal clothing at my Pilates class. It's not about working up a sweat, it's about being able to move freely
