Im 34. I used to have amazing skin, never had spots, no wrinkles. Then ds came along 2 years ago and ive now aged so quickly its unbelievable.

I was never good with remembering to put on moisturiser anyway so that's probably not helped but I'm making an effort now. I've started using Superdrug's hot cloth cleanser which is really good on my skin.

I have combination oily t zone and sensitive skin. Can anyone recommend something to use. i can see lines forming round my eyes and on my cheeks/jowl's. i have around £20 to spend on something that will help. thanks

There's not a cream that works. Sorry. Buy the well rated Aldi cream, save your money and put it towards Botox. Get some sleep and drink water too.

Agree with above poster. I have tried expensive night creams etc etc. Now I just massage sainsburys almond oil into my face and wait for a windfall which would pay for Botox !

No advice but wanted to sob with you as post DD I have aged about 10 years' (She's 2) I am pregnant so all the Botox research was for nothing. Marking place just in case.

Bad news - there is no wrinkle cream. Good news - you can do things to slow things down.

Your skin regime should look something like this:

AM:
Gentle cleanser - I am one of the MN Cetaphil fans. Cleanser just needs to clean, you won't get anti-ageing from it as it's not on your face for long.
Acid toner - salicylic acid better if you get blackheads, otherwise glycolic or lactic. I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA which lasts forever. Am planning to try Bravura London next which looks lovely and not massively expensive.
Anti-oxidant serum - most expensive item, could be skipped
Moisturiser - only if you think you need it, I have combination skin and don't bother
SPF - frankly if you don't do this, you might as well not bother doing the rest, it's the most important step by far. I like Cerave or Sunsense as it has niacinamide in as well, which is another good anti-ageing and acne ingredient.

PM:
Gentle cleanser
Acid toner
Serum
Night cream containing retinol - if you are going to be really serious, you need prescription retin-A as retinol isn't as effective. But SPF, retinol and acid are the key anti-agers. LRP Redermic R would be a good place to start.

SPF all year round will stop the wrinkles getting worse.
Boots protect & perfect will plump them out a bit.
Day cream with hyularonic acid will further plump.
Don't wash your face in the morning, just splash with water. As you will wash off all your natural SPF your skin just spent all night making.
I'm finding the superdrug b. Night cream pretty good.
Botox looks awful, instead, make sure your hair & make up suit your colouring, being stuck in a rut is more ageing than actually naturally ageing.

Sleep
spf
Www.rio rosa. Co.UK (rosehip oil, amazing for fine lines)
eat lots of avocados and nuts
have lots of sex Wink

But take heart that all the women I met at toddler groups looked older then than they do now, with older kids. Having babies and toddlers puts ten years on you !

wrinkles are caused by the following. The remedies are:

  • genetics - choose different parents
  • ageing - die earlier
  • sun damage- wear sunscreen. Your skin does not 'make natural SPF over night'.
  • gravity - move to the moon
  • smoking - don't
  • expression - never show any

you will see that use of moisturiser is not on that list. I leave it to you to choose the two feasible items.

botox is a remedy.

I've recently started using the Nivea Sensitive day and night cream. The day one has an SPF. They cost less than £8 for both of them and I'm really pleased with them.

Justgotosleepnow · 12/10/2014 13:29

Special I can't be bothered to argue with you. Go ask a dermatologist what the substance is that your skin makes overnight. And how it is designed to protect your skin naturally. Ok this isn't common knowledge, and we are all told to wash our faces twice a day. But it is unnecessary.

honeypie10 · 12/10/2014 20:08

Thank you all, sorry for not replying sooner but someone decided to steal a car and crash it into my wall this morning, as if i need anything else to age me further!!!

andifeedemgunpowder Maybe its true then that toddlers and babies puts years on us. Im sure my mum never looked as bad as i do when she had my brother though Sad.

Right i've been looking through some on boots and think shall try the wash in the morning (hot cloth cleanser) I love the way it brightens my face. Then spf something as a moisturiser.

then at night, wash again or use something to take make up off, then night time cream (thinking boots protect ad perfect, only cos i saw it on an advert before) then toner and moisturiser and an eye cream.

I try to get lots of sleep but im a light sleeper with a screaming toddler=bad combo for my skin. I don't smoke, or drink. I do eat lots of sugar though which i read ages you so will try to cut down on the amount plus drink lots more water. I do drink lots anyway but will step it up, give it all a month and see if i notice a difference.

Thanks!

no need for arguing or toy-chucking. All you have to bother to do is produce evidence and I will listen.

no need for me to ask a dermatologist. Everyone who didn't flick their hair through school knows what sebum is. I can't see any evidence that it protects from sun, nor that not washing helps. I'm not a thorough morning face-washer and I assure you I get burnt without suncream.

but show me some evidence with real science. Not people selling things.
