Boots for high insteps?

Any fellow "sufferers" out there?

I ordered some Ecco boots from Amazon, which was stupid of me, because obviously I couldn't try them on first. Anyway, I finally managed to shove my bastard feet into them and zip them up, to find that they were extremely snug over the top of my feet.

So I don't know whether to keep them in the hope that the leather will give (does leather actually give?) and possibly risk an expensive mistake - or just return them because my feet will never get on with them?

And finally - can anyone recommend a brand of boots that will happily accommodate high insteps? Or am I doomed? dramatic

I have the same problem. Currently have sore feet and blisters after pushing my feet into a pair of boots and walking to the station in them.

I bought another pair recently which were very tight across the top and they have loosened up but I guess it depends how supple the leather is.

Leather does eventually give. I have same problem but get most of my boots from Evans. They go up to large sizes and the larger stores generally have quite a good selection of various styles

I've got some from Hush Puppies that are comfyalso I generally have better luck with boots that have a heelare your eccos pretty flat? Tanya's suggestion of Evans is good too if your feet are on the wide side, but I have to disagree about hoping they'll stretch out-- it's just not worth the agony in the meantime!

I'm going to have to give away the pair that gave me blisters which is annoying because they are Bertie and very nice. I can't return them as I've had them for months and they were an exchange - like an idiot I assumed they would fit and haven't worn them till now.

Even some Duo boots (and I mostly hate Duo) are tight across the instep. For me, buying boots has been a long litany of disappointment, refunds and cheap, bendy Ugg-alikes.

The Ecco boots do have a slight heel, probably about an inch or so thisone. They were quite expensive so I think I'd better play it safe and return them. I find it so annoying to hunt for shoes and boots that my feet will tolerate! I have osteoarthritis in my big toe joints as well, which really doesn't help. Sad
