Will I ruin my jeans?

Last weekend I went through my wardrobe and found a pair of jeans that I haven't worn for about three years and was happy to discover that they fit again!

The only problem is that they have loads of threads pulled through, probably caused by my cats sitting on my lap and padding. They are tiny little loops of thread, 1 or 2 mm at most, but because the pulled through thread is a lighter colour, they are really obvious.

I've tried to push the thread back through with a needle but couldn't manage to push even one through. I'm tempted to get a small pair of sharp scissors and cut off the longer threads. But will this ruin my jeans? Will they then develop holes all over?

Probably a daft question, so be gentle!

You've nothing to lose.
I would be gentle with them afterwards though, gentle wash cycle and no tumble dryer.
You lucky thing, I'd give my right arm to fit into an old pair of jeans Envy

Thanks Jackie, yes I was delighted that they fit me again. I put on weight over the last three years, but was always the same size for years before, so I've kept some of my smaller clothes in the hope that I may go back to my old size again.

Thing is, if I can't get rid of the bits of cotton then I will probably keep them for hanging around the house clothes, so I'd rather not ruin them if possible.

Have you got a simple needle threader like this ? Push through from the back , poke tiny thread though loop and pull through to back.
