Disaster-need non under wired bras

happyyonisleepyyoni · 07/10/2014 19:56

I have a painful red lump under my right breast which GP says is caused by underwires

Can anyone suggest good non underwired bras for a 34ff (fitted by Bravissimo)

  1. Sports bra
  2. Take wires out of existing bra?
  3. Oldfashioned soft cup bras (see figleaves)

I guess you might have to put up with things going south an inch or two Grin. Hope it gets better soon.

I've never heard of lumps being caused by under wires. Have you measured yourself as per the better bra campaign (mumsnet way)? Google better bra campaign and follow the fitting instructions there. Having said that having been measured at bravissimo they are usually spot on... I'd question them about the bras you're wearing.

In the meantime genie bras are very soft and won't dig in. Bravissimo also have some good sports bras that will provide better support and may be more comfortable.

I am a huge fan of wire-free bras. You can get ones that have strong seams to hold you in place but without any metal digging in. I recently bought a fab one by Maidenform but I am not sure what their size range is. Not sure where you are but I found Fenwick in London had a better selection of wire-free compared to what there was in John Lewis. Teen bras are often wire-free but these are less likely to have the larger cup sizes I guess.

Maternity bras?

Twinklestein · 07/10/2014 21:05

I had a 'Doreen' bra by Triumph, which looks like something a 50s housewife would wear, but by God it was comfy. It had all the support of underwired but wirefree.

hmm, don't know why thats not working. Search "non wired" in figleaves, and then choose your size.

RichTeaAreCrap · 07/10/2014 21:49

I saw at article in a magazine yesterday about Triumph Magic bras, non wired but apparently as good as. I am going to have a look at them.

Thanks ladies for all those suggestions. Yes I've been fitted at Bravissimo a la bra interventionists, and been wearing a 34 band for a couple of years, current Panache bras are a few months old. I will go and seek out Triumph!

Ooh I am with you on this, as finding under wires digging in.

Am struggling as a feckin 32H ffs.

Triumph Doreen was SO comfy (and the most supportive non wired bra I have ever experienced) when I was pregnant and a bigger back size, but they don't come less than 34 Sad. So if I may hijack a little and ask your lovely readers to also suggest something that comes in a smaller back size, I would be immensely grateful Thanks

I even wrote to Triumph to ask if they would do a smaller size, but no reply.

Good luck in your quest though OP.

Freya make a non wired version of the Deco which is supposed to be pretty good.

I have to admit though, not convinced it will be caused by the underwire.

Oh look at these beauties:

They're even claiming the widest variety in my size too, so thanks for your thread, I would never have found them!
