TALL longish, waterproof, vaguely stylish everyday coat?

Clearly too much to ask! Am 5'11 and trying on coats in high street, find they're sort of ok in sleeves but just skim my bum and waist cuts in just under my boobs so what might have been a flattering cut, so isn't! Have searched on here and realise I should probably go Scandi- like the Didrikson but even there, the Thelma for example is only "knee-length on women of average height" so at say 4-5" taller than the average Scandinavian woman, it's still going to be too short. and cut wrong! Any recommendations? Which IS the longest Didrikson ie vaguely knee length please?
Other possibility is a Seasalt duvet- looking coat, below knee on photos so may suit.
Have also checked the v limited collection of tall on line - gap/next, asos etc and there's nothing.
Help please!

Im 5'9, agree ring Vikingkids the ladies are super helpful, swedish(!) and truly know their stuff!

Very first world problem, but massively confused now! In therms of looks( s far as I can tell online), I LOVE the green NF arctic most of all, also Ilse Jacobsen, SO stylish! But can't trust that NF will fit right having Googled some reviews mentioning too short sleeves. Plus form my own experience of their stuff. And the Jacobsen styles are too short for me in the main. Which brings me back to the Didrikson which I must admit thrill me much less but seem sensible all rounders and far more likely to fit my giraffe-like frame. If I'm forking out, I really won't tolerate a dodgy fit. I called the lovely people at Viking and they recommended a Taylor as being long enough but don't
have my size in stock: ( shame as would like to have bought from them. Also said Mary worth a look and possibly more stylish. Aargh! Hate being tsll sometimes! Would love to just potter along the high street and try a few options on!

Went for the Taylor and overall very pleased. Seems well made, quite flattering due to adjustable waist so not duvet-like at all. And nice and long- lower mid-calf on me which is such a lovely change and bodes well for cold winter walks!

Meant lower mid-thigh else obviously would be very duvet like!

Fab! What's the difference between the Taylor and the Mary (just in case I need another...!)

TheDogsMissingBollock · 12/10/2014 23:13

Taylor is a parka, Mary isnt. Rather it's a long coat. Similar length to taylor apparently and smarter (so Viking say). Though to my eyes looked a little frumpy online. Like the relatively nipped in waist of the Taylor. Not sure am explaining well, best google some pictures! Think Blacks have both.

Oh i see you have the Mary, sorry! Sure its nice on, just Taylor better on me, i think.

Ha ha I'm not offended, so long ad your wrists are warm it's all good!

I am 5'8" and have an Ilse Jacobsen coat. It is long, below the knee, which is why I bought it as I hate wet knees on walks. I think it would still be a good length on someone taller. It isn't padded at all, but is warm and windproof in all but really freezing weather. For Freeze I have a North Face long coat with a removable down inner that I bought in Sweden.
