Suede boots for winter? Are the protector sprays any good?

Would I be daft considering a pair of Suede flat Ankle boots for Autumn/winter?

Never had a suede pair before so any advice welcome.

DON'T DO IT.

I have about three pairs of suede shoes and boots, which I can never wear. The suede protector is USELESS (even the expensive ones) and they get ruined in the rain. And since it's Northern Europe, it rains A LOT.

Go for leather instead - seriously, suede is useless in winter.

not for winter. Certainly not as your main winter shoes/boots

Not unless you get another pair for wearing on days when it's not raining.

I've used weapons-grade protector (Collonil, it is fab) on boots that are mostly leather but with suede bits, and they're not bad after being rained on but I don't think I'd trust it to keep a fully suede pair looking perfect.

Boo! but thanks for your replies.

Back on the boot search. Anyone seen any nice leather ones?

I buy one from Blacks (for suede and footwear) and use on my DD shearling boots (Costco own brand) . She can grow out in a year so I'd rather they kept her warm and dry than kept looking pristine.

We went to London in winter a couple of years back in a blizzard. She wears bare feet in her boots.
I was wearing training shoes, my feet got cold and wet .
She was warm and toasty Envy much.
