Just got soaked in freezing rain on the school run, we walk whatever the weather. I would like the best warmest coat possible for £50 ish...
I am tall so it needs to be long, I like those puffa/padded types, is ski wear the way forward?

thank you

To keep you properly dry it should be knee-length, mid-thigh at the shortest. I got a waterproof-ish coat for £65 from TK Maxx but my legs still get soaked.

I got my Merrell Haven for £50 in Blacks sale, just got lucky, but you never know.
They are lovely coats and last well so ebay worth a look.

I also love my Target Dry Georgia Parka, its suprisingly warm yet not too bulky...there are usually some online codes available for 15% off the price which makes it a bargain Wink

Very cool. Not much call for it in N.Ireland though Grin.

beavington

Its not overly padded but really warm! Its windproof too so no drafts. Ive actually had quite a few question me about it. I have it in the Indigo blue.

Merrell ellenwood got for £70 from sports direct - in heather (purple) rather than my preferred blue - but toasty, dry and very very smug.

I have a couple of Tresspass jackets (they come up small though) and a knee length Hawkshead coat (no idea if they still exsist- just checked, yes they do)

For warmth though, why not get some base layers - maybe Uniqlo or sometimes Aldi have them. I'm waiting for their ski event to buy for DD school trip.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/10/2014 21:17

I have last years version of this www.next.co.uk/x54170s5#651041x54 bang on target. Mid thigh, nice and warm and fairly waterproof. I didn't get wet in a heavy shower but wouldn't want to walk around
All day in the rain in it or a heavy downpour.

JamaicanMeCrazy · 07/10/2014 22:17

Caminante it's actually from trespass and it's v cosy with the inside bit in it too, plus you get 2 jackets for the price of one. I got the black one, but I know someone with the purple one too and it's nice, just not for me as I needed it for work. I wouldn't get cream purely as it would get manky in my line of work/with kids but it looks nice Smile

I ordered a regatta bliss today for £40. I have everything crossed.
