hi all - on behalf of DH who is having a clothing issue. He is 38, 30' waist and just under 6ft. When not in work (suits) he is struggling for causal clothes. He does not do sportswear (except for actual sports) and likes the david tennant sort of smart jeans / jacket look. He loves and suits Reiss but its too ££ for us really and he feels like he is getting a bit beyond Topman T shirts. Any suggestions? Its more for places to shop than anything else - what is slightly upmarket from Topman and Next but not Reiss. All repsonses welcome, thanks Smile

french connection is good for menswear, also zara but my dp is a bit too large for them!

AkkerDemik · 05/10/2014 16:04

This may not be much help, but DP is a walking 'man at Matalan' Grin

He's not into clothes shopping, and likes doing it all in a few hauls a year under one roof. He would never go on his own, only if I'm there too, and most of his stuff is things that I've stood in front of and said 'oh, I like that'. However... it's surprising how often he's complimented on his outfit by people far more expensively dressed than him!

dexter73 · 05/10/2014 16:09

My dh buys most of his clothes from Uniqlo. He likes very plain clothes.

missmargot · 05/10/2014 16:14

Zara, Uniqlo, Gap, ASOS mostly.

M&S bought by me, because I know it will fit!

DH does not do clothes shopping (for himself, happy to come with me and the DDs) and runs off if it's suggested he tries anything on.

He's 50 going on 12, given DMILs takes of trying to get him to try on school trousers.

ElephantsNeverForgive · 05/10/2014 16:22

Oh and Debenham's. Who are worth a look because they have a variety of designers, styles and nice shirts in their sales.

DHs nicest non work shirt is a Jasper Conrad on from their sale rail.

MrsEboJones76 · 05/10/2014 16:36

DH is 43, 6ft 3 and slim so looks ok in pretty much anything bastard . He hates clothes shopping though and does not give a stuff about what he wears really.
He goes to the John Lewis xmas sale and buys branded jeans - Diesel, Wrangler, Levis etc... Also the odd shirt and polo shirt.
He buys shirts in Next and also their chino type trousers that he wears to work. He gets summer shorts there too.
Apparently you should never spend anything on T-shirts so he buys those in Sainsburys. He got a rather nice berry lined cagoule in there the other day for £7.50.
He also buys stuff in Gap if he has a discount code.
The only things he really lashes out on are a winter coat - currentl one is North Face and shoes and trainers. Shoes he buys from Camper or Dr Martens.

fairylightsintheloft · 05/10/2014 17:13

thanks all - problem is DH is a definite metrosexual - he likes clothes, wouldn't be seen dead in a fleece, reads the GQ style section, likes the Jude Law / Tennant thing. Have found a few bits at FC and River Island.

marks and Spencer's. belstaff. Hugo boss. primark and charity shops!

calzone · 05/10/2014 17:42

Banana Republic looks good on dh. SmileSmile

msfreud · 05/10/2014 17:46

What about White Stuff?

nilbyname · 05/10/2014 17:48

Fat face
H&M
Gap
TK Maxx

He wears slim fit jeans, Clarks originals shoes/boots, slim fit button down shirts with sleeve rolled up. Crew neck sweaters.

Lovelydiscusfish · 05/10/2014 17:55

A lot of Gap, the odd jumper that I get him from Sainsburys. Ralph Lauren when he can afford it! Oh, and he likes Charles Tyrwhitt (sp?) shirts - he orders them on line. He always wears the same thing - some kind of garishly coloured trouser, a shirt and a v-neck jumper, and one of those embroidered polo belts. No real variation from this. Works for him, I suppose!

IAmNotDarling · 05/10/2014 17:58

Sainsbury's for most things but some Gap and Massimo Dutti. He's a pain the arse and won't replace things until they fall off. It's so embarrassing.

He's had the same 5 pairs of jeans since 2001.

sleepdodger · 05/10/2014 18:00

Gap
H&M
Sainsburys
Next
^^ all fit him well
He likes Zara but just doesn't suit shape
Brands likes the north face

wonkylegs · 05/10/2014 18:01

Debenhams
Fenwicks
John Lewis
M&S
Next
Asda George for plain t-shirts - nice & thick & don't shrink.
He detests clothes shopping so he tries to get as much as possible in one shop and that is good enough quality so he doesn't have to go back for ages.
His suits & formal coat are from Jageur.

123Jump · 05/10/2014 18:04

Boden?
40% off today too.
DH wears a lot of Gant, but that is ££ too. However, he is happy with a few polo shirts and 1 or 2 pairs of everyday jeans.

Thurlow · 05/10/2014 18:05

White Stuff and Gap mostly. He shops twice a year when the sales are on and that's it. White Stuff do nice polo shirts, and Gap do great casual shirts.

bigTillyMint · 05/10/2014 18:08

Shop?
GrinGrinGrin

Bakersbum · 05/10/2014 18:09

Mostly debenhams, tkmaxx, t-shirts from Sainsburys.

BikeRunSki · 05/10/2014 18:11

Howies

purpleroses · 05/10/2014 18:14

He doesn't.

If I didn't buy him things he'd just wear old prog rock band tshirts bought when he was thinner about 20 years ago, and jumpers things with holes in....Hmm

Seeing as he doesn't care I buy him cheap clothes in Sainsburys or Primary.

But this probably isn't the above you were looking for Grin

PumpkinBones · 05/10/2014 18:16

He buys junk food tshirts online every now and again.
