So, mid 40s.
Applying my foundation last night with new bright bathroom light and glasses on I was horrified to see it as it really is Shock Looked chalky, collecting in lines on forehead and above mouth ESP and I haven't got that many.
I've tried primers. I'm using No7 lift and luminate at the mo.
Have tried Teint Idole by Lancôme. Both do the same thing.

I need a foundation that isn't shiny but that gives good even coverage without making me look 70!

Any recommendations?

Dry, I'm asuming your moisturising well and allowing time for it to settle before applying foundation. Secondly what are you using to apply your foundation. I started using the real techniques beauty blender about 6 months ago and it has honestly changed how my foundation looks when applied, it's amazing. I change it about every 6-8 weeks and wash it twice a week and honestly my foundation looks fab. I've recently tried about 12 different foundation samples to find a new one and they all looked good applied with the BB. A primer will help but like foundations you might need to sample quite a few before you find one you really like.

Also forgot to say make sure you moisturise well at night too.

I moisturise like Cassandra, exfoliating toner, hot cloths etc, and still foundation looks like this on me. Some sit in my pores as well Shock

I don't get the same problem with bb creams though.

I moisturise manically. But have to admit I just slap the foundation on with my fingers and blend it in. Will loo at beauty blender.
What is the difference between tinted moisturiser and bb cream? Confused

Try the Diorskin Star with the blender egg thing. It looks much better than my previous one did. Alternatively lower the wattage of your bathroom bulb Grin

I've decided that I prefer being slightly shiny at 42 and for that reason use Elizabeth Arden tinted moisturiser instead. I wouldn't have said that I have a lot of lines but I don't like the way that foundation sits in them and definitely ages me.

Lots of people say no difference between bb creams and tinted moisturisers, but I find bbs seem to have more coverage.

I had a blender brush from m&s but it shed vast amounts of hair on my face and felt disgusting. I've heard real techniques brushes are good. I'm not sure about the songs if you have to buy a new one every few weeks!

Fubsy · 04/10/2014 16:46

That's sponge. Bloody predictive text!

RonaldMcDonald · 04/10/2014 16:58

I say bha to sort out pores

Have you considered a peel?

Drywhiteplease · 04/10/2014 20:13

Peel sounds scary Ronald
So I've bought a Real Techniques blender brush and I'll have a go with it tomorrow to see if that does help, before investing in anything else.
Awks perhaps I'll continue doing my foundation without glasses on Grin
