Can I use Rose Water as a Facial Toner?

Many of the (cheaper ) toners seem to dry my skin.
I have bought a bottle of rose water from the Asian section at ASDA price 50p. Would this make a good toner?
It is a culinary product and contains only spring water and pure essence of rose.

Would you use this?

Yes I would, I love floral waters :)

Oh good- I'll give it a try. Could be a lucky find at 50p for 190ml Smile

Melvita sell their waters at £16.00 so yours could be the bargain of the year :)

I can't wait to try it. I may decant it into a nicer bottle though.

yes, but it won't do anything. Toners don't.

what you have there is perfumed tap water.

But surely the rose extract does something?

yes - smells nice.

skin pores cannot be opened and closed like doors. Water to wash your face comes from the tap. Alcohol (which isn't in this one) feels like it is doing something as it evaporates.

remember the mumsnet campaign - ask for evidence. If you can find some for the properties of toners, I'm listening.

I am under no delusion that toner "opens and closes" pores.
That's not why I use one. I like to use a toner to wipe away residual traces of cleanser which I find can leave my skin greasy. A toner is like a final rinse to the skin and feels fresh.

Rose oil ( which will be present in tiny suspended globules) is known to be beneficial and even healing for the skin. I have seen rose absolute used many times for eczema with amazing results. Botanicals do contain chemicals.

At 50p I am happy to use if it it feels nice- what's the problem?
