Big massive red angry mountains on my chin . They are disgusting and hideous and sore and they need to be gone by Friday . I'm going to try and post pics .

Sudocrem works a treat for me. Don't squeeze them, just apply a thin layer on them as soon as you get in/before bed and they will have shrunk by the morning.

See you GP and ask for Zineryt, a topical anti-biotic. It worked for me.

olaflikeswarmhugs · 01/10/2014 21:42

I've been on Zineryt for years mooth I think I've built up immunity to it now Sad going to make a go appointment when I can but really need something in the meantime .

I just googled it and read to burst open an ibuprofen liquid capsule and out it on the spot but I'm scared it burns my face off ! Shock

white toothpaste - it dries and draws.
leave it on overnight

have you tried witch hazel? That always works for me if I can resist temptation to touch my face (which I always want to do whenever I get spots). You can buy it in gel form as well which is good.

Or diluted tea-tree oil?

I have also tried toothpaste in the past and think it definitely helps dry them out. good luck!

Ok I am passing on advice I got 10 days or so ago. I am prone to vile hormonal chin and jawline lumps that sit for days and never erupt. They are painful and really red. The scars last for weeks.

I got told on MN (well, advised!) to use Cetaphil cleanser and HIbiscrub. I am stunned with the results. I had a lump brewing at the start and it's just shrunk back. Horrid, itchy areas on neck are going with just few tiny pimples around sides of chin.

Don't know if it's the Cetaphil or HIbiscrub but don't really care. Both are cheap and available from Boots!

Spots dry up quickly with surgical spirit applied with a cotton bud. Very cheap and very effective! Good luck getting rid..

I bought this stick of witch hazel for spots in Boots a while back and it really dries up any spots, usually overnight. Tea tree oil cream is also good.

olivespickledonions · 04/10/2014 20:26

Mouthwash on a cotton bud to dry out.
If you need to draw the yellow head out quickly, a clay mask.
I take a vitamin A tablet every day. It seems to keep my hormonal chin spots at bay.

I have acne rosacea, I found it improved when I drank a fruit/veg smoothie with fax seed in- apparently it is quite well known. It helped my within about 5 days.

QueenofLouisiana · 04/10/2014 22:42

Flaxseed not fax seed!

After suffering for over ten year I finally found a solution... Here is what works for me:

  1. Vitamin A works magic BUT it is VERY DANGEROUS if overdosed, can cause SEVERE HARM to a baby if you are pregnant.

So instead of Vitamin A I take a daily capsule of Fish Liver Oil with vitamin A and D, my skin is much clearer since I started taking it.

  1. Treatments with Benzoyl Peroxide are very efficient, just look for low concentration 2-2.5% its as efficient and virtually no irritation. All I could find in the UK is 10% concentration which causes skin irritation so I buy mine from US or Canada.

Neutrogena (sold in US) www.neutrogena.com/product/on-the-spot-+acne+treatment.do

Benzagel 2.5% (sold in Canada)

Apply at the whole area. Make sure it does not get on your clothes.

  1. Micellar water as a cleanser, removes make up (even waterproof) and dirt instantly, gentle on skin (Garnier now sells big bottles, available everywhere)

  2. Chin area probably means its hormonal, maybe you should see a gynecologist..

Good luck.

Hibiscrub!

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 06/10/2014 06:35

Marking place so I can get myself to boots later!

artex · 06/10/2014 06:42

Glycolic or salycilic peels are the only thing that have worked for me. Not cheap, but very effective. I used Transform

Non coated aspirin mixed with a splash of water to make a paste. Leave on for a few mins then rinse. Works well for very red spots.

PeppermintInfusion · 06/10/2014 13:28

Magnesium sulphate paste (for boils etc) works well on mine- doesn't seem to bring the cystic acne to a head but draws out the oil etc. Apply a tiny amount with a cotton bud.

Hydraluron gel/moisture jelly is working a treat on mine at the min, gets rid of the scabby look of them but moisturising without making them more oily so easier to put makeup over now.

Also REN glycolactic facemask.

PrivateJourney · 06/10/2014 13:50

I'm not convinced anything you can buy to put on the spots helps, IME they're all too harsh and can actually make them worse.

I used to get these horrible painful lumps too but I haven't have a single one since Easter, when I dramatically pared down my skincare routine.

I used to use a lot of products designed for spotty skin but now I cleanse using the hot cloth method and aqueous cream and then use Simple light moisturiser.

Is saving me a fortune, I really haven't had more than a very small pimple, none of the deep painful ones I used to get and I may be imagining it but I think my skin looks a bit younger, more dewy too!

Calamine lotion is drying and cooling on the red bits. You could make it part of your armoury.
