What would look nice with this skirt?

have a wedding to go to next fri and have just bought the following: skirt from monsoon planning to wear with long brown boots but not sure what sort of top to put with it. Really would like something i can comfortabley wear again as not really a skirts and dresses person. Slightly worried that skirt a bit casual for wedding but again wanted something that would get some wear out of. have got brown v-neck jumper which bought today too but not sure like the two together and think def looks too casual. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved - short of time and not a lot of choice shop wise locally. Skirt is a pine green, with darker green flowers and mid brown embroidary (not clear in pic on link). Thanks x

Hi Waswondering! How's things?

Some nice suggestions! If I ended up buying on-line do these shops deliver quickly and how do their sizes work out?

NP, like the idea of someone esle doing the work for me - might just be worth the train journey...

Really like the skirt but get feeling might not be the easiest to match with anything other than a lighter top or a dark brown.

this looks quite nice green top and looks a similar green to skirt - would i get away with crinkly fabric over my tummy do you think?

like the green beaded top on one of the links. It would hide your tummy and it's soft, feminine and dressy so would stop the skirt being too casual. I agree with someone else though, I would wear shoes not boots because of the dancing. It'll be warm at the reception too with everyone sitting indoors.

Greensleeves · 28/09/2006 22:08

sorry about the toe tag thing I was feeling waspish

Hey, took a deep breath and trundled into Carlise on the train yesterday. Unfortunately found nothing to go with skirt, though the staff in both Monsoon and Principles were just fab - Monsoon in paticular one of the memebers of staff took dd off round the shop for an explore whilst another found everything in the place that would vaguely go and gave me some honest opinions. I love this skirt and it's all very frustrating. On the plus side dh has said just to keep the skirt after all the hassle and to go out and buy whatever for however much. Bless him, he was very sympathetic about me having spent two entire days trawling shops with no sucess.

Wouldn't normally be quite as stressed but this wedding/blessing is going to be a bit of an odd occasion. Our uncle, the brides father died a couple of months ago - they got married exactly a week after his funeral - had bought things fwd but not by enough sadly. Friday is a service of blessing followed by full reception complete with fireworks apparently! Anyways it all feels a bit funny and it will be a day of real mixed feelings and we're all a little uncertain about exactly how formal it's all going to be etc. Anyway I now have until Weds to find an alternative outfit - probably just going to have time to do local shops here in Dumfries which is bit limiting but something should turn up.

Thanks for the help on this thread.

Waswondering, glad things are good, your wee ones are just lovely!

GS not really sure what your comment was about or if it was aimed at me but don't worry, we all have off days .

Yes is in NI - is a small world! John, the groom is Scottish and they met whilst in Aberdeen at RGU so unlikely to be a diff wedding. It should be lovely day, the family really needs a happy occasion as the last two times we were all together it has been for funerals - we lost our Granpa around 6 weeks before our Uncle.
