Why do all my trousers fall down?!

Do I have no waist?! I am a size 16, and all my trousers fall down all the time-I figured I was buying them too small-so I bought some more in a bigger size and THEY still fall down and I'm hitching them up constantly. Is there a magic jeans/trousers cut that i don't know about that will stop this?! And I do wear a belt but they still slip down. Do I need to buy old fashioned denim with no stretch in it?! Help!

If your trousers are falling down, why on earth did you think a bigger size would help? Try a smaller size.

Mine do too. I am a 12. I try and buy the ones that go up higher at the waist and ones that go in at the waist (to avoid the huge gap at the back).

I can go to the loo in some of them without undoing Grin

Body shape is an issue too. I'm a pear and often have to wear a belt because jeans/trousers fit on the hips but gape hugely around the waist.

Try a flatter me belt...www.flattermebelts.com - I have exactly the same problem and this gives enough grip to stop trousers falling without digging in or being visible!

Have you tried a size 14?

DarylDixonsDarlin · 29/09/2014 16:04

Are they tight.on the thighs? I ask this because mine start falling down, at the same time as I notice them being tight on the thighs, almost like they get stuck on my thighs and this brings them down. Blush

I have found jeans in the above style, with the interesting seaming above the pockets to be useful (not this particular pair - as with all M&S, you can't be sure that the same pair but a different colour will fit the same..........) They give a bit more room in the bottom, go in at the waist and are also a little higher in the waist, although not perfection and still need a belt. Hope it helps.

Lower cut lycra jeans seem to not have enough room in the lower bottom area and gradually squeeze themselves southwards. If you get up and stretch or reach, they go faster, and I am forever hoiking them up. I am sure there is a really expensive solution somewhere.

All good suggestions! I tried a larger size as my size 16s were tight and then were falling down, so I thought maybe they were too small... I'm wearing linen trousers today and they fit properly (and are a size 16) I think because they have a high waist. I'm just sick of hoiking up trousers all the time!

You're probably an arseless wonder, like me.

The only solution is either trousers which are high waisted (though I've always found that many of them simply cut me in half) or a plain, old fashioned belt.

I've had the same problem. I think manufacturers are skimping on fabric, producing trousers which don't come near to reaching your waist, so there's nothing to hold them up. This is often the cause of the dreaded muffin top as belts are tightened in an effort to keep them up. I don't know the answer, short of making trouser waists actually fit on the narrowest part of the body i.e. the waist, and not hanging off the hipline.
