Please help me de-frump!

I'm feeling frumpy and mumsy at the moment...I'm 12-14 (bit heavier post cutting down bf so a solid 14 at the mo...), 36E (ish) boobs, approx 5ft 8.

I generally wear breton-stripe tops with skinnies or boyfriend jeans, striped tunic dresses over leggings, plain fine-knit jumpers, trenchcoat, leather biker etc. Lots of layering of longer vests underneath to avoid muffin-top and also so I can bf (please God I won't need that for much longer during the day). Grey marl suits me, as does navy, but this does mean my wardrobe is pretty dull, colour-wise.

I work in a v casual office so no need for smart officewear.

My usual favourites are Gap, Autograph, Boden, Mint Velvet, Zara, H&M. Sometimes Fat Face but I feel their stuff ages me a bit, tbh. I need to update but have no idea how! A few years ago I felt fairly cool but now I just feel mumsy and boring (bloody nursing bras don't help.)

Please advise me!!

I think your style sounds great! What about a new scarf or two in a nice colour to pep your outfits up, and maybe some new costume jewellery? I work in an office but it is fairly smart and dull so I tend to wear very plain clothes and try and let some personality shine through with accessories! Maybe go for a makeover too, to make you feel a bit brighter? I am 46 and a mum of two so I know all about the fear of frumpy and mumsy!

Nowt wrong with looking Mumsy if you are a Mum, embrace and enjoy.

I like the sound of your style too. You haven't mentioned hair and makeup, perhaps that could help you feel more stylish. I always feel better if I blow dry my hair rather than sticking it in a ponytail and I look much better with makeup.

Window's idea re scarves and jewellery is a good one, allows you to wear your neutral layers but look more individual. Also maybe think about some new boots for winter.

Two things;

What shoes do you wear?

You know you can put nursing clips on a normal bra? If you can thread a needle you can do it. Kits are about £5 on eBay and it'll take no more than an hour.

Book a free personal stylist apt at John Lewis or Debenhams & see what ideas they have. Often it helps having a fresh pair of eyes to guide & advise on colours /styles that suit you.
