Sorry it's taken me so long to return.
You're looking for your signature fragrance. Take your time. Go and sample them, try them on, leave the shop and after half an hour see if you like them on you. (I love the smell of Sunflowers in the bottle, but I hate it on me.) Go back another day to try another one. try them at different times of the day, and in a variety of weather and moods, after eating different foods. Which one makes you feel happy every time you catch its scent on yourself?
I was in exactly the same situation as you about 10 years ago (I threw my Sunflowers bottle out eventually) and I now have a fragrance I like for daytime and 2 others I combine for a more heady evening/winter hit.
(The ones listed below are not the ones I wear.)
A few suggestions:
Happy by Clinique for Women
Mandarin orange, bergamot, pink grapefruit, apple, crisp, light floral. launched fairly recently, so it won't have generations of wearers.
Karl Lagerfeld's Chloe
1975. A complicated and layered creation. Mixture of honeysuckle, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, hyacinth, lilac, coconut, bergamot, aldeydes and juicy peach at the top notes. Then jasmine, rose, narcissus, tuberose and carnation along with the oriss root, add body and the base ends with oakmoss, sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar and benzoin.
Jean Patou, Joy
1929. Rose, jasmine, honeysuckle, ylang ylang and tuberose, anchored by a very light sandalwood base. Lasting, and a good year rounder. Voted scent of the century.
Channel No 5
Is great all year round, it is a citrussy floral Aldehyde fragrance, it has stood the test of time and it smell quite different on different people.
if you like this and want something much cheaper, you could try the old 'Eau de cologne' fragrance.
