Tightlining was abit of a revelation for me, I could not do without it now. Also applying foundation with a stippling brush x

ScooseIsLoose · 27/09/2014 13:13

Primer! I couldn't live without it now my favourite ones are lancome la base, and urban decay eyeshadow primer potion.

Vitalstatistix · 27/09/2014 13:17

best thing I ever did was switch to a foundation brush.

It looks so much better.

Dropdeadfred2 · 27/09/2014 13:18

What is tightlining?

MrsBertMacklin · 27/09/2014 13:21

Applying lipliner after lipstick. Using the nib of the pencil to work lipstick right into the areas you want, rather than a brush, makes it look much more natural, but still defined and protected from colour bleed.

TheMagicToyshop · 27/09/2014 13:28

These are really obvious but for some reason they weren't to me before this year! Subtle contouring actually looks really good (always associated it with that harsh bronzer look before). And using decent brushes makes a huge difference.

MsTwankeyToYou · 27/09/2014 14:51

Real Techniques makeup brushes. Bourjois foundation (pale enough, and good for my skin type). Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush with stick or pan concealer for more natural, long-lasting and heavy coverage of blemishes. Avene skin recovery cream whenever my skin is feeling sensitive or blemish-prone - it calms anything down! Not exactly make-up, but for acne, Hibiscrub as face wash and a Lumie Clear lightbox have achieved more than any kind of medication the NHS would offer me.

Lndnmummy · 27/09/2014 14:55

Tightlining is a way of applying eyeliner very close to the eyelashes. You wriggle the eyeliner into the root of the lashes and it does wonders. Google it for tips on how to do it, it looks lovely, groomed and "done".

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/09/2014 14:58

Primer mixed with Mac foundation. Gives such a great finish.

Apatite1 · 27/09/2014 17:09

Decent makeup brushes. I prefer japanese ones: suqqu, hakuhodo

Good blush: tom ford

Tiny amount of nanoblur.

coffeeinbed · 27/09/2014 17:12

Don't be afraid to mix.

Highlighter and foundation, two shades of tinted moisturiser or foundation.

CurlyWurlyCake · 27/09/2014 17:16

Why have I never heard of a foundation brush!

Clarabumps · 27/09/2014 19:27

I have just found Hydraluron cream which you apply after cleansing and toning but before moisturising. It totally locks in moisture and my make up looks amazing. I have really dehydrated skin and today I looked as though i'd slept for a week and my make up had the dewy look of a 20 year old.
It's amazing.

applecartupsetter · 27/09/2014 19:39

Have you got a link to your hydralauron? Mine is to apply foundation with a Beauty Blender sponge - can't be any old egg shaped sponge, must be this type. YouTube it!

ememem84 · 27/09/2014 19:55

Foundation brush.

Beauty flash balm

And nude but ever so sparkly eyeshadow. For general every day wear.

An yes tightlining.

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/09/2014 20:11

I have beauty flash balm. I use it as moisturiser at night. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?! Is it supposed to be mixed with makeup? Confused

Truckingalong · 28/09/2014 08:19

This is the best for tight lining www.bourjois.co.uk/catalog/make_up/eyes/eyepencils_eyeliners/intuitive_liner Does all the work for you.

JetJungle · 28/09/2014 08:28

Real Techniques make up brushes.

This set is a proper bargain and includes the brilliant foundation brush.

Whereisegg · 28/09/2014 08:29

Marking place.
I recently had my make up done at a counter, benefit one.
She would do half my face then show me the difference between doing the other side.
I was amazed at the difference in my eyebrows when she used the brow stuff.
Mascara for brows but can't think of the name!

StaircaseAtTheUniversity · 28/09/2014 08:33

Marking place!

Any good recommendations for a highlighter? I like to use one but have trouble finding decent ones on the high street.

ememem84 · 28/09/2014 08:40

I put beauty flash over my moisturiser under foundation. Or sometimes just leave the foundation off.

I also put a bit of my sparkly nude eyeshadow (urban decay) in the corner of my eyes.

Clarabumps · 28/09/2014 08:47

Hydraluron Link
Here it is, the wonder product. i've been using it since Friday and it's honestly the best my skin has looked.

ARGHtoAHHH · 28/09/2014 08:48

When you talk of flash balm, are you talking about clarins beauty least balm?

ARGHtoAHHH · 28/09/2014 08:56

Flash!

mysteryfairy · 28/09/2014 09:10

Not a makeup application secret but I really recommend Xmas gift sets as a time to stock up. I wear Lancôme mascara, normally about £22 a tube. In the Xmas gift range you can get two for £28 or a set that includes mascara, liner and makeup remover for £20. I stock up for the year.
