Help me pick a present!

I've been tasked with choosing a thank you present for a woman in her 60s.
She's fairly stylish, but casual and practical with it - lifestyle includes lots of country walks, informal work environment but likes to make a effort for days out/lunches/etc.

The budget is around 200-300, and it has to be a 'thing' rather than a voucher/experience.

She has a fair bit of (silver) jewellery, so I was thinking a watch… as she always wears one, but apart from that I've no clue... She's very lovely, so I want to get it just right!

Any ideas?
Thanks

If she already has a nice watch, maybe a new one will not be used much?

How about a really nice silk scarf from Hermes (their 90 cm ones are £310), but the 70 cm ones are lovely too.
There are other brands sold at Liberty, Selfridges and Harrods that are a little bit cheaper but still very nice.

Some cashmere? Ie shawl/scarf/hat

I think pressies should be luxurious items you wouldn't buy for yourself

Her watch at the moment is fairly basic and she's had it a while...
She doesn't really wear scarves much either - I'd thought of Hermes or Liberty…
Struggling!

Pen ( mont blanc or yard o' lead )

Agree with fancy silk scarf and cashmere.

The only thing with a watch is its so personal. I wear mine every day, casual and smart. It took me sooooo long to choose it I would hate for someone to spend £300 on another one and my current one to sit in a drawer. However if you say it's basic then go for it

£200-300 why not buy her some more nice clothes. You must know her style and tastes and do her a goody bag of say a little bottle of wine a small box of chocolates and a little pale pink nail polish. How about some flowers as well

Cashmere stoles from Brora are £179. That with some lovely hand cream or posh tea and chocs?

Twinklestein · 28/09/2014 10:45

I would go for an Hermes scarf in the colours she normally wears.

MagicCarpet · 28/09/2014 23:38

Molesbreath - I know, I'm the same about my watch. I'm choosing on behalf of a group, so whatever I think has to then be agreed upon.
Will look at brora, thank you…

Maybe a cashmere throw for her sofa.
