Ive been using a newtons chiropody sponge in the shower. After use theyre gone completely and they come back a lot slower than in the past eg after pumicing them. They are no longer a problem!!

AHA or BHA creams/ lotions work wonders too! I really rate Cane and Austin exfoliating pads. Can't use them at the mo as pregnant though Sad

Foot cream with urea (high %) works too, it helps to break down the keratin that makes the lumps.

cheeseandpineapple · 26/09/2014 07:25

What do you mean by "bumpy" arms?! Product looks interesting, worth a whirl for feet, curious how it helps upper arms?

kittyvet · 26/09/2014 07:41

Assume OP means 'keratosis pilaris' which is a common genetic condition causing lumps on upper arms and thighs like permanent goose pimples. Only discovered at tender age of 36 there was something I could do about this!

I've seen quite an improvement just from using Original Source Moisture Surge (I think?) shower gel with oil in. They're not gone but much calmer, perhaps a combination of the sponge and shower gel would eliminate them completely Smile thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks OP. I've been meaning to do something about mine you've just reminded me.

Must buy one of these magic sponges..

myotherusernameiswittyandgreat · 26/09/2014 08:16

I've been trying to get rid of them for years. Thank you OP I'll give that a go Smile

crazykat · 26/09/2014 09:39

I've found using exfoliating gloves and a moisturising shower gel and plenty of moisturiser after the shower works wonders. Mine are mostly gone now unless I get lax with moisturising. It took a few weeks to get to this stage but as long as I keep it up I hardly have any.

Doublebase shower gel is good as well. My kids have inherited it from me and the GP prescribed it. It doesn't get rid of the bumps as well as exfoliating but it makes the ones that remain much softer.

How interesting. My DD has this, and I always thought it was just something to put up with. I didn't know you could do anything about it.

wantacatplease · 26/09/2014 09:48

Not sure if this is true but I had a family doctor years ago tell me these get worse if you don't dry your arms properly after a bath or shower. A lot of people leave their upper arms damp without noticing he said. I started to really dry my arms and within weeks they were loads better.

FavaBeanPyramidScheme · 26/09/2014 10:00

Mine cleared up entirely when I started using bio oil and they have never come back

macnab · 26/09/2014 11:25

My little dd has this quite bad, since she was tiny (she's just 4 now) I'm not keen to put anything too harsh on her skin yet, so until recently they've just remained very bumpy. However I recently started massaging coconut oil into her skin every night and already I can see a good improvement. I'm often tempted to give it a good going over with a scrub but then I remember that she's so little! So I'll stick with the coconut oil for now and hopefully it will continue to improve.

Branleuse · 26/09/2014 11:27

I get them on my legs, but occasionally using hair removal cream clears out the dead sticky keratin that causes it

Siarie · 26/09/2014 11:28

Exfoliation and Shea butter body creams, works 100% but I'm too lazy to keep it up. I did it for my wedding though!
