Are jackets the new cardis at work?

Hello
I work in a professional office environment but we are not client facing
Over the last month or so I've noticed quite a few women who used to do the smart skirt or trousers with top and cardi replace the cardi with a jacket
Has anyone else noticed this? Are cardis a bit dated at work? Is everyone getting smarter?
Thanks Katy

I do this myself now - used to like cardis, now they feel very underdressed and I prefer a jacket. The office isn't even client facing, men wear shirts and ties but it's unusual for women to wear suits. Jackets yes, suits not really.

I think so - especially softer jackets

I've never worn cardigans. The only one I own is worn with pjs at home. I think they look a bit... slovenly and undone. Much prefer a blazer jacket for work.

I am always so cold, during winter I do cardy and a jacket.

I bought this in black. Ideal for the office as it's smarter than a cardigan but not as structured as a jacket.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this! I've just returned to office dressing after a few years in dress down office. I've worn cardis a few times but few underdressed, but overall my new place isn't especially formal (ie don't need a full suit). There so seem to be a lot of comfy blazers and jackets about at the minute though which seem better for sitting in (couldn't sit in a formal suit jacket, always need to remove).

Also noticed many more people wearing flats, last time I was in a dress up office they were considered too casual.

I hope not, I did all this shit in the 90s and have no intention of going there again.
