Are ghd traighteners worth the money?

Now I've been thinking about getting some new straighteners for a long time and I've never had ghd's but I've been told they're really good? They are incredibly expensive though and I'm just wondering if it's worth the money...

I curl my hair with the straighteners a lot and my hairs quite thin, so some that won't destroy my hair would be preferable Smile

I believe they may have sold the company and the straightners are no longer as good quality, I'm unsure as have no direct experience of recent ones.

I have a barely used pair (purchased 5 years ago) that I am never going to use again.

Yours for £50 Grin .

Kukesi, thank you anyway!

Bunny, any particular reason why? I know the salon I go to uses them, but I'm not sure if it's just to show them off more than anything and I've never used them without the treatment at the same time so I'm 100% convinced...

They really do work amazingly. They heat up super quickly and they straighten even my very thick hair perfectly.

I'm just not into the straight look anymore. I shaved my head in January and am growing it out au naturel and am embracing my waves and my grey Grin .

mommybear95 · 25/09/2014 16:57

It's not so much the straightening I use them for really, I used to straighten mine religiously until I realised they we're amazing for curling hair - it holds much better and looks really natural Grin

But I really do think waves are really 'in', it's just the damage to my hair I'm worried about Confused

The makers of GHD left and set up a rival company called cloud 9. I have an ancient pair of GHDs that are still going strong so I can't compare, sorry.

My friend recommend some straighteners called vibe www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00N3CIDVK?cache=6a750840ef47043a676901b8fcbf0167&pi=SX200_QL40&qid=1411665488&sr=8-3#ref=mp_s_a_1_3
they have been amazing and just as good as ghds that I've used. They vibrate through the hair and don't cause as much damage.

collywobble · 25/09/2014 18:38

Sorry link wouldn't work on my phone. They are vibe straighteners and are on amazon if you search. £14.50 for the pink ones .

Orangeanddemons · 25/09/2014 18:54

I have very thick hair with a very very slight kink in it. Not enough to look good, but enough to make my hair flick annoyingly outwards at the end. Ghds are the only ones that work. All the others just made me look like a mad old woman. I do have very stubborn hair though

Yardley · 25/09/2014 18:59

My hair is very thick, very curly at the back, wavy at the front and prone to frizz.GHD's are the only straighteners that work for me-on my second pair (in 8 years and they get used daily so I don't think thats that bad)...ive got the new type that heat up quicker and allegedly are sensitive to different thickness's of hair so less damaging. Not sure I believe that really but they are still very good.

Love mine , still going strong after 11 years Smile

teaandtoastinbed · 25/09/2014 21:18

I think so yes, got mine in 2004 and still going strong.
