My DP wears a denim jacket with jeans and I hate it - what can I buy him as an alternative?

He wears a great boots and shoes, good flattering jeans, nice shirts or cool tops - but then always puts a hideous denim jacket over the top and immediately looks like a knob.

What's a good alternative for a stylish look, casual but not sporty?

He's mid forties and I'm younger.

What about a leather flying jacket?

I suggest you buy something and give him it for Christmas. Then mysteriously "lose" the denim one :-)

A leather jacket is just a leather jacket - it's a classic - & there are so many different kinds...

I think losing the old one is probably important, otherwise he'll still wear it instead of the new one!

My DP has a lovely brown coated cotton jacket we got at John Lewis. It's fab - neither leather nor denim. Let me see if I can find something similar, hold on. DH wears a hoody, or a cardigan or a fleece or a leather jacket, depending on the occasion.

Can you not buy him a jacket for Christmas as its not too far away. Or is the thought of another three months of denim making you ill?!

The only thing appropriate to wear with a denim jacket is a pretty frock. Which doesn't sound suitable for most blokes. You have to lose the jacket.

If anyone can show me an acceptable denim jacket in any other circumstances, I'd love to see it.

My DP is a very snappy dresser I ask myself why he's with me every single time we go out and often wears jeans with nice shoes and a casual shirt, and a blazer like this or this or a brown/tweedy one he looks amazing.

Very sophisticated, ready for anything, very cool - and not a huge leap from a denim jacket either.

I agree denim jackets on men are not a good look.

If you look on MandMDirect they have LOADS of fab mens coats at the moment (Duck and Cover and some other makes that DH likes). They do lightweight and heavier coats. Also DH wears Animal/Superdry/O'Neill/Ripcurl hoodies. All look fab with jeans and good boots/shoes.
