If you could only have one coat for AW?

I've recently lost 2 stone and all the coats I've accumulated over the years now hang off me. I'm on maternity leave so would ideally find one coat/jacket that covers all eventualities, and it can't be too pricey...

I'm generally casual but like to look a bit finished. I mostly wear skinny jeans, loose jumpers, Breton tops, boots/converse and normally get into scarves in AW.

So... Biker jacket? Parka? Blazer? What would you choose?

Thanks!

Parka from White Stuff, it's got a slightly waxy finish but not sure it's totally waterproof...recently bought but not yet worn as been a bit hot here. Very much looking forward to it tho. Dark navy, so it goes with all but a couple of my outfits.

To add - You've just missed a 20% off offer for white stuff last week, but there was a 15% off offer floating around too if you sign up to their newsletter and get sent an invite to a shopping evening ;)

I think your best bet is a PARKA
Cheap from EBAY
Something from ASOS
Another one from ASOS1
One from TK MAXX
A hood is required if you will be walking placed with pushchair etc...

Parka, deffo.

I have a proper waterproof parka. Nothing else really stands up to the realities of walking 3 miles a day, in all weathers.

ouryve · 22/09/2014 11:42

How come that Joules peacoat is A HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-NINE POUNDS and they can't even sew the buttons on straight? grin

That'll be the bit under the label proclaiming how wonderfully British they are saying Made for peanuts in China.

ouryve · 22/09/2014 11:47

oooh - they're nice, Officer. I must find somewhere I can try some of them on, as I have ridiculously short arms, but the waterproofing in the berghaus parka I got to test from MN isn't quite as good as it used to be, after 3 winters of solid winter wear.

(Also suspecting that I may have, erm, outgrown it)

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/09/2014 12:21

Merrell Haven for me too, so warm and has lasted brilliantly.

Stevie77 · 22/09/2014 12:42

All those parkas are nice, but hardly warm enough for proper winter when it's hovering around 0c or lower, surelyHmm

Sleepwhenidie · 22/09/2014 12:43

Well no, but equally when its still 16deg in October you'd be roasting in a down filled number - at least you can put a thermal vest and a jumper under a parka!

Thanks everyone! Looks like a parka then. I fancy a waxed/waterproof one and I saw this that's nice and cheap, plus I have a tendency to get too warm as I often have DS2 in a sling so it's probably better for me to layer up underneath.

That pea coat from joules is gorgeous but the price is crazy!

My last parka was from tesco and I loved it but it's huge now. Time for a replacement
