Shopping trip to Glasgow

I've never been to Glasgow in my life, but I believe it's a good place for shopping. I need clothes. And makeup. And I enjoy a general wander around nice gift shops and homeware shops as well (although I know that's not relevant to the style and beauty boards)

I know any big city will have all the usual high street shops, but is there anywhere else I should know about? Any little streets that I need to know about that have individual little shops that would be nice for a browse, and somewhere to have a nice coffee? Not high end designer shops though (budget won't stretch to that!), just anywhere that isn't a chain store.

Is it the city centre you are visiting? If so the Buchanan Street style mile has loads of shops for all budgets. The big House of Fraser will take you hours to go through, make up, household, clothes, everything really.

For smaller niche shops either the West End or Shawlands in the South Side are ideal.

yes, it's city centre.

Thank you! Smile

Agree with going to Frasers and then go across the road to Princes Square for coffee - some nice places for coffee on the top floor. There's a good kitchen/homeware shop beside Central Station and if you're heading towards Central Station, pop into the Champagne Bar in the hotel inside the station for a post-shopping cocktail. That's what I usually do when visiting Glasgow anyways! Smile

Agree with suggestions above and in fact Tinderbox in Princes Square has (I think) been voted Glasgow's best cup of coffee . I would also nip onto Royal Exchange square, immediately adjacent to Buchanan Street, for some nice shops, cafés and the Gallery of modern Art which is fab and has a great gift shop too
