I have been hunting for some new clothes brands for a while which are a/ flattering on a curvy/pear shape b/ nice colours and not endless black, Navy and grey and c/ a sweatshop free zone. Just in case it helps anyone else please can I totally rave about Nancy Dee ( I now own THREE of their bamboo wrap dresses bought in their sale), Winser ( the miracle trousers really are just that) and Lagom which has just provided me with the killer dress I was looking for for my 40th - this little emerald beauty

I am now broke until the new year and will have to live on pot noodles....

Thanks! Not heard of any of these before. The Nancy Dee wrap dresses look like a good price in the sale - what's the sizing like?

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 15:19

True to size I would say. Lovely quality fabric, flattering drape, subtle rich colours and chuck it in the washing machine. I do wear a cami underneath them though otherwise a bit too revealing for me

Great - thanks. Just considering one of the jersey tea dresses with the contrast shoulders too.
Will be shortly joining you on the pot noodle diet....... Grin

I hadn't heard of any of these either. I'm always promising to shop more ethically and failing miserably so it's good to have more options. Thanks.

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 15:37

Apparently Zara and H and M have got their acts together as have M and S on the high street, according to the Ethical standards watchdogs. Gap still awful tho :(

But also - it is just nice to find colourful stuff which isn't lary, is flattering and isnt stupid expensive and isn't the same old from Boden etc

Komodo was quite nice too but the stuff I got in the sale was too lightweight to do autumn and had to be returned. Worth keeping an eye on tho

Thanks Ocelot! Just looked at the Nancy Dee site and seen lots I like. Autumn wardrobe restock coming up Smile

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 17:30

Ace! Glad to hear it Smile Promise I don't work for them!

Interesting. John Lewis sell Winser and I had wondered what was deserving of the 'miracle' in the title!

ocelot41 · 19/09/2014 19:48

It doesn't look 'all that' on the hanger or ( I don't think) on the website. But if you are like me and just wanted your lower half to be as unobtrusive as possible, it works. I spent ALL DAY in central London on Project Trouser which was exhausting and depressing as everything is skinny cut or crop cut. Heck even straight cuts look skinny on my thighs! Only these and the Honour trousers by Oska are sufficiently loose to skim nicely without making me feel like coco the clown. Plus, these are washable - oh joy!

I should add though that Winser's sizing isn't vanity-oriented! I usually take a 12 and am a 14 with them.

Thanks ocelot. I love Winser's styling, very elegant. Will look out for their sales!

I know - it's very ladylike but without being oldfashioned. I like that - it feels like a style you could wear from mid 30s to 50s without feeling either frumpy or mutton. And there's not many o' them brands around...
