I'm happier with my shape but sadly my face looks really thin and old and I have no idea what to wear!

When I was 3 st heavier I was top heavy and wore dresses or tunic and leggings but now they don't suit me and hang off me. I need a whole new look. Where do I start?

Well done on your weight loss , that's a brilliant achievement!

What shape are you? Do you have a small waist, are you top or bottom heavy? I'm a size 10 but have wide shoulders and am more rectangle shaped. I wear things fitted otherwise they hang off my shoulders and make me look huge.

I think it's a bit of trial and error to be honest. I'd take a good (honest!) friend shopping somewhere like John Lewis and try a load of different things on and see how you feel. Try some more fitted clothes though. Don't hide behind tunics!

Cherryblossomsmile · 18/09/2014 14:14

Thanks. Im scared to deviate from tunics, it feels weird to me to wear shorter tops after years of covering my tummy! It's been 7 years since I had my first child.

I'm 5.4" top heavy, boobs still 32g, with a waist. So if I wear belted things it makes my boobs look matronly.

Short legs. 30" trouser length.

I'm size 12/14 now.

I need help with where to buy clothes and how to sort out my poor wrinkly visage! Someone said not to lose Any more your face will look terrible Sad. And I'm Still a stone over the middle of my healthy bmi.

Congratulations. Firstly please tell me how you lost the weight.

Have fun trying on new styles. take loads in the changing room.

Sorry no idea about wrinkles as I have lots myself.

Wow well done on the weight loss could you give some tips on how you achieved this?

Book a personal shopper appointment at John Lewis they are fab

Layter · 18/09/2014 14:38

Well done on losing all that weight! That is brilliant. Maybe don't give too much water to the comment about your face, lots of us have a tendency to dwell on the negative and dismiss all the positive comments.

I recently got contact lenses and was able to wear make up for the first time in decades. Being utterly lost about where to start on it all I presented myself to M & S beauty department and asked for help. The lady there was awesome and I left feeling a million dollars. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Hi cherry, I'm in a similar boat, 5'3 and a stone overweight after the birth of my third child, big boobs from breastfeeding (32f) but normally a pear shape, about to hit 40 and feeling frumpy.
I found starting a Pinterest board helpful, and particularly the blog insideoutstyleblog.com written by a personal stylist, which has lots of tips on dressing to suit your shape, and developing a capsule wardrobe that works for you. I had my colours done a few years ago but had not used that information to cull old things or spent any time/money on replacing them. I've had a massive clear out of my wardrobe, an honest trying on session with DH being surprisingly constructive and am collecting ideas on what to buy once I'm nearer target. I've bought some shoes, had my brows and lashes tinted and tamed, had a haircut and already feel much more positive.

Getting lots of good fats in your diet (avocado, oily fish) is supposed to help with your skin. Personally I suspect people who are telling you not to lose more are jealous of your success, since you are aiming at a weight in the healthy range.

A personal shopping session is a great idea and one I shall be stealing!

don't make the mistake of trying too hard to cover a mummy tummy. Loose clothes just shout ' I'm hiding a mummy tummy!'

Try slim leg darkwash jeans and a top with a hip length cardi, add a scarf, earrings, nice bag and maybe boots with a chunky heel?

pinkfrocks · 18/09/2014 16:22

I'd also ignore the comments about losing it from your face...

being blunt, a fat face is ageing and not attractive.
Someone needs to lose a LOT of weight usually before it goes off their face. if the weight is on your tummy or thighs it will go there first before your face loses it.

Cherryblossomsmile · 18/09/2014 18:11

Thanks for the ideas. No john lewis nearby but we have house of Fraser so I will see if they do personal shopping.

Pink frocks I like your ideas.

Youre right I just need to try on loads of clothes and be opened minded. Once I've done that I need to find similar in cheaper shops! I'm going to lurk on this board and get more ideas.

I really do have a thin face. Even when I was overweight it was skinny so now I look really haggard Sad. I wish I could afford fillers.

I lost the weight by low carbing and running. Both ideas I got on MN!

Have you thought about a restyle/colour for your hair? That can give a more youthful look to your face/skin. Also a good eyebrow shape can work wonders.

Heels99 · 19/09/2014 09:24

Yes, house of Fraser do personal shopping. It is free. You get a large changing room to yourself and someone else to run in and out with different sizes. Well worth it
