Magazine!! Someone she was interviewing today outed her on Instagram. I was wondering what her mysterious new project was, must admit I hadn't thought of a magazine. Do you think it will be digital rather than print?

OP posts:
AmberNectarine · 16/09/2014 08:09

Ahem. They look fucking amazing on me.

CambridgeBlue · 16/09/2014 09:29

Agree that she's going to need a bloody good proof reader. I'm not sure if English is her first language or not but her blog is full of really bad typos - that's not going to look very professional in magazine format.

7Days · 16/09/2014 09:42

LOL she manages to drop £400 in Whistles but can't manage primark. Different world really

bigkidsdidit · 16/09/2014 09:45

I'm sure an intern will do the proof reading!

I'm looking forward to it. But then I like the leather culottes!

MarshaBrady · 16/09/2014 09:47

The intern will do the Primark trips too, inspired.

ZaraW · 16/09/2014 09:48

The culottes weren't a good idea.........

AmberNectarine · 16/09/2014 09:56

She speaks with an Italian accent so I assume English is not her first language, though she speaks it beautifully.

burnishedsilver · 16/09/2014 10:00

I've just had a look at her blog. She knows her stuff alright. It's all so far out of my league there's no point in looking.

ZaraW · 16/09/2014 10:06

I much prefer Garance Dore

www.garancedore.fr/en/

CambridgeBlue · 16/09/2014 10:11

Italian is the most beautiful sounding language - she really does have it all doesn't she . Except an ability to face the hoards in Primark of course - I can do that no problem!

I bet WIT would love to be the next Garance Dore but her illustrations put her in another league all together.

trevortrevorslattery · 16/09/2014 11:05

MrsEbo sorry to hijack thread but do you know any other petite fashion bloggers that a shortarse such as myself could look at?

LinusDKD · 16/09/2014 11:11

I do actually like her style (most of the time, still have that horrible Prada stole burned on my retina) but I agree she needs to disclose any freebies and discounts.

As a non native speaker I do sympathise with WIT making mistakes in English. Smile

KoalaDownUnder · 16/09/2014 12:03

Okay, never looked at her blog before, but 500 quid for a beaded shirt?!? (And sorry, J Crew, but I would expect more information than 'imported'...imported from where? Because at that price, it matters.)

Off for another look at shite I can't remotely afford

santamarianovella · 16/09/2014 12:09

I like her too, I don't think she wants to be like garance, they are completely the opposite of each other, WIT blog is more approachable and easy to read, more people can relate to it,in terms of finding styles they can copy, (ignoring the the designer prices of course) most of her looks can easily be achieved via high street stores,

I think only people who have strong interest in cutting edge fashion, photography and articles related to the art and fashion world in general fallow GD, plus I don't think you will read a boden or M&S reviews any time soon on GD blog Grin

And now that you've all mentioned grammar mistakes,as a non native speaker too,I now feel very Blush, I know I make mistakes in my posts, but its sometimes very difficult, specially if you think In one language and talk/write in another,

KoalaDownUnder · 16/09/2014 12:28

I think it's poor form to pick on someone's grammar if you know English isn't their first language.

The vast majority of people who speak English as a first language are not fluent in any other languages at all, and would kill to be able to write as well in Italian as WIT does in English!

AmberNectarine · 16/09/2014 12:56

The majority of people who speak english as a first language still make the occasional grammatical fuck up! I think she is really good at what she does - occasionally she says something a bit vapid like 'leather culottes work for any occasion', which, patently, they do not, but she is a fashion journo and doesn't inhabit the same world as us mere mortals. I like her a lot.

Shopaccordingly · 16/09/2014 12:58

I like the leather culottes too, sadly I don't think they would look the same on me though. I don't have an issue with the grammar, which has just occasional mistakes. I don't think English is her first language but I look at her blog for the fashion inspiration, not the writing particularly.

CambridgeBlue · 16/09/2014 13:13

I didn't know if English was her first language or not (as I said) but if she's making a living writing a blog and now producing a magazine she'd do well to proofread her work (or get the intern to). It clearly doesn't matter at all when you're posting on a forum like this (so don't be Blush santamaria) but sloppy editing won't cut it in the magazine world.

I'm not meaning to be unkind, I started a thread a few weeks back saying how much I like LF and quite want to be her - I'd rather have her style and looks than my reasonable command of English! .

WipsGlitter · 16/09/2014 13:18

I agree, on a blog I can sort of forgive mistakes but she won't get the same grace on a publication where people are advertising. I wonder if she is planning for it to be a subscription or if she is hoping to make money from the advertising revenue alone.

RepeatOffender · 16/09/2014 15:00

Is it possible to post a link to the Instagram article I don't understand Instagram and don't want to sign up for something else I really don't need in my life

RepeatOffender · 16/09/2014 15:03

..... oh, and I like WIT. Totally aspirational, far too beautiful/petite/expensive for me but I do enjoy it and it does give me ideas. I don't even mind her English and i'm usually a pedant.

lordnoobson · 16/09/2014 15:32

Still no to skate shoes. Even on you my darling Shock

coffeeinbed · 16/09/2014 15:42

I like her style.

I have a top she wears as well
I don't mind her English, but clearly she'll have the interns proof reading.
It's not just the grammar, it's the whole usage of the language that had to be right.
But she definitely knows her stuff.
I was in M&S today and hesitated over a skirt and then thought - bugger, LF would wear it, so I bought it.
See if I'm right..
