help dress dd for a wedding.

We're going to my BIL's wedding and although it's not majorly smart, DD will need to look good.

The budget is £100 ish.

Constraints are as follows:
She's 10, but she's 5'2" and starting to develop. Lots of dresses that are young enough really show her breast buds and make her very self conscious. Other dresses are too busty in the bodice.
She doesn't do girly.
She would rather not wear a dress but DH would rather she did. I this is because he is worried she won't look smart enough. I would rather she felt confident and comfortable.

So, 5'2", women's size 8-10, size 5 feet but heels would be over my dead body. She's strong and muscly rather than slight and delicate. Very thick brown hair with a bit of curl and natural highlights. Although she wants to dye it red for the wedding. Which I may veto. Amazing skin, fairly tanned.

So, we've looked around a bit online and found this which she loves but I'm pretty sure won't fit. And she also has no suitable shoes - can probably stretch to another £25 for those.

She needs to look grown up but not too grown up.

Help!

Just to add - DS1 wants to wear a Bond suit. And she wanted to as well.

Would she like to wear a jumpsuit with that jacket? With gold ballet pumps?

tethersend · 14/09/2014 14:50

What has she said she'd like to wear?

Wellwellwell3holesintheground · 14/09/2014 15:01

A black dress with skulls on and her purple DMs. If it were up to me, I think I would let her. I have memories of so many miserable ocassions wearing ill-suited posh stuff.

That jumpsuit is great and DH approves, astoundingly! Along those lines sounds good.

I think she wants to look trendy, edgy and grown up. Problem is, she looks about 25.

Topshop have loads of nice bits in at the moment- lots of jumpsuits and some nice jackets. Something with a ruffle (doesn't have to be lacy) or ruching might make her feel a bit more comfortable in the chest department.

too girly? would make a nice dress for Christmas meals out.

Yes she'll look very grown up, you have to get used to that. DD2 does, when dressed up.

That dress is lovely. Feeling a bit more hopeful!

She's beautiful Smile

I think that tunic would be great with leggings or tights. Topshop is a good call.

Also look at Miss Selfridge

Thanks all, armed with information and feeling confident. We will of course run the final outfit past you guys before the big day!

And yes, she's so beautiful! Which is why I shamelessly posted my favourite pic of her.
