I need to assemble three autumn outfits that will be comfortable, stylish and show them that Brits can do chic Grin

Two of the days involve a fair bit of walking so I need comfortable shoes (this is a particular problem, I need new shoes). The third is meetings and I need an especially good outfit for this one.

I'm thinking skinny black trousers & silk top on one day - but what shoes? A dress day, then a skirt/top day probably, but I don't know, I'm stressing Confused

I think leopard or pony slip on trainers for walking around. Black ankle boots with a reasonable heel (look under "biker" in Clarks) for the dresses.

No help here but lucky you. I hope you show 'em!

Oh I quite like those slipper things and they look super comfy, will browse, thanks.

Am struggling with dresses too. I don't need to be ultra smart day-to-day so I need something versatile...

Pared down and chic is the way to go. Only bloggers dress in a terribly try-hard fashion ;)

Black trousers & silk top sounds great. I would actually wear the trousers on the third day too with a different top. Less packing and less try-hard. The truly chic make their clothes work for them - not languishing in the wardrobe because you wore them already this week.

Shoes - how about a plain black mid heel court shoe? Dune have a good selection. I can't wear high heels all day but a mid-heel is comfortable enough.

Take a look at WIT she has some great ideas (although not so great at the affordable versions recently...but you should find some inspiration there).

In terms of a dress: what is your usual style OP? What appeals - wrap dress? tea dress? maxi? jersey? 50s style full skirt or 60s shift (the latter being very on trend).

Am very jealous btw, OP. I am a freelance womenswear designer and spend most of my time working from home in jeans.

I need some comfortable black heels anyway and hadn't thought of Dune.

I probably would wear the trousers twice but will take 3 outfits in the event of catastrophic wine spillage or mud splashing (which would be typical of me)

Usual dress style is simple and loose - I am very straight up and down with not much of a waist so quite like straight styles.

You have a great job, Ujjayi!
