...if I want some black, flat work shoes. I'm on my feet all day at work (primary teacher)I want shoes where you can't see my socks (hate pop socks and ballet shoes etc with socks look crap) trying to avoid boots at the moment. Ideally I'd love to wear trainers to work but they are too scruffy. Not sure about brogues - will I look like I have stolen my husband's work shoes?

I've looked on M and S, Next, Viva la diva, duo, clarks.

I'm going to cry soon if I can't find something Sad

Next wide fit and clarks, m&s sometimes have good quality wide fitting footwear too

pinkfrocks · 14/09/2014 10:10

It's not that bad is it?
I'm a narrow fitting and cannot get shoes to fit.
There seems to be masses of wide fit shoes everywhere...

FamiliesShareGerms · 14/09/2014 10:15

M&S do some wide shoes that fit my feet well

Gabor is a good brand, though pricy

Kurt Geiger / Njne West used to fit me, but they seem to have slimmed their shapes recently Sad

tethersend · 14/09/2014 10:21

Duo have some nice ones.

HattieFranks · 14/09/2014 11:38

Pinkfrocks - no it is shite, honest. A lot of wide fit ones are not wide enough or they fit at the front but I keep walking out of them at the back (narrow heel). My MIL has narrow feet and never has trouble getting shoes (and she LOVES shoes Grin) - she reckons Russell and Bromley are v good for narrow fit but they are £££.

I've had soe from Shoe tailor. I am eee fit. I do sometimes wear stuff from Evans and M&S.

slalomsuki · 14/09/2014 16:09

I have wide feet and tend to stick to boots if I can, but obviously not in the summer. I too am on my feet most of the day.

I agree that M & S and Clarks do a good job with wide feet sizing, Duo do as well but I can't afford these all the time. Have just bought some Flip Flop shoes in black Mary Jane style which seem to be comfy but I have to size up as do most people. The other brand is Sketchers which I have used in the past but not recently.

Carriemoo · 14/09/2014 16:21

I have wide feet too and yours does lovely shoes and cheap too!

marcopront · 14/09/2014 18:03

I have wide, long feet. So I need a 9 EEE or a 10 EE. Any suggestions, most places stop at 8.

marcopront · 14/09/2014 18:04

Oh and I live in a hot country so boots are out.

BikeRunSki · 14/09/2014 19:23

selks I love you! Ds and I gave both had Keen shoes, from outdoor shops, and I live them. I've tried to find them online before and always failed! You superstar!

Gabor ascari are very good - come in suede which is forgiving and smart enough to wear with skirts and dresses. Have bought many pairs! Otherwise it is M&S as I find with wide feet you really need to try on.

Suzannewithaplan · 15/09/2014 01:23

I like Keen shoes but have found some styles wider than others, I also like vibrams but they may be a bit too peculiar for most tastes Blush

Hattie please report back on your purchases. I have wide feet and a bunion on each foot too. Wide feet PLUS a deformity = shoe shopping nightmares. And that's for normal, everyday footwear. Shopping for occasion shoes for a do or a wedding is hell on earth.

The only brand that dome some shoes that fit me are M&S wider fit footglove. Not all of the wider fit footglove range, just some. I need the shoes to come all the way up the front of my foot, or to have a strap (like mary janes) or they fall off. And the leather has to be super soft.

I would be really interested to see how your found the other brands. It could open my footwear door considerably!

I am also a Primary Teacher with big feet. I know you said you had looked 'on' M&S but have you been into a big store? I ask because as an NQT I was saved my a pair of M&S 'footgloves'. And this was years ago. I have had a gorgeous pair of high heeled sandals from them since. Honestly. Please give them a try.

I have wide feet, a size 5 and probably take an E or EE width.

I find some of the places mentioned above e.g. Shoe Tailor/ Viva La Diva are ok but the quality of the shoe isn't that great, but good range of styles and good prices.

I just can't get on with M&S for shoes at all, even the wide fit ones just don't work for me. My feet must be the wrong shape Hmm

I quite like Gabor for wide fit shoes. Last year I wore their wide fit ballet flats lots at work but I found with a lot of walking my feet were sore due to lack of padding and arch support.

Some specialist online retailers have some slightly quirky (i.e. not to everyone’s taste) shoes that fit wider feet, See Cheerful Soles and Shoe Garden for ideas.

European brands like Think!, Wolky, Mephisto have some styles in wider widths. All on the pricey side but tend to be better quality and are more supportive. Think! provide details of the type of lasts they use and whether a style suits narrow, medium or wide feet.

Amazon is a good source once you know what size and make suits.

Bikerunski Grin glad to have helped!

SauvignonBlanche · 15/09/2014 19:39

I'm a EEEE and swear by Shoe Tailor.
