Removing nail varnish

What do you use? The best method/product.

I fancy being a bit more groomed, putting in a bit more effort. I quite like painting my nails - but I find removing it a faff. Cannot stand chipped/grown out nail varnish look....ergo....never bother painting them.

So, to get me out of my cannot-be-bothered-to-take-it-off-so-therefore-will-not-bother-at-all rut I need to find the perfect product. All I have ever bothered to get is bog standard supermarket remover. Sometimes with moisturisers, sometimes not. Never really look.

So what is your go to remover please?

I get the Cutex Moisture Guard polish remover. I find it very good, it's even pretty good at removing glitter polishes and I think it's a lot better than cheaper brands. I think it also has a nail whitening formula so the tips of my nails stay brighter. All in all, It's definitely the best remover for me and I am unlikely to switch brands

I have one in a pot that has a brush thing inside so you dip your finger in and turn and it scrubs it all off in one easy step, no need for cotton wool.

Zoya remove £10 ish on Amazon, would never use anything else now.

You just show your nails the bottle and the polish just falls off*

Plus it leaves nails in very good condition and primes them for new polish.

I don't do my fingers in summer, but all other three seasons I reosint them every three days ish, a bottle lasts me about a year.

  • this isn't strictly true.

GobblersKnob what's the zoya one like on glitter varnish? (assuming you wear glitter Grin)

I recently took a tub of the nail polish remover pads on holiday because it was carry on bag only and didn't have room for a liquid remover. I hadn't used them for years as they were such a faff and basically rubbish.. Miracle- they now work brilliantly and much quicker and easier than anything else. One pad does both hands. The tub in current use is Boots Conditioning nail remover pads but I have used cheap ones out the supermarket and they have been great too

LittleG69, it's better than most, garnishes than have an element of glitter in it removes quite easily, varnishes that are skills glitter iyswim, it struggles with more.

If you have patience and hold the pad for about 30 seconds it will usually take it off in a couple of swipes, I have never had to resort to tin foil.

It looks expensive, but if you wear a lot of polish it is well worth it imo.

LittleG69 I've got some glitter removing stuff in a tub from Sephora (UK delivery is 6 quid on a 75 quid spend on the website - ouch!) but its the dogs bollocks on glitter, and on dark colours too

I like the Bourjois pots you dip your finger into. Works quickly and without the faff of cotton wool.

Using a good base coat makes a difference, tbh, as it means your varnish won't stain your nails (as much, anyway). I use Nail Inc at the moment.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/09/2014 16:39

Bourjois pot here too, brilliant, and I wear lots of glitter polish.

MyFirstName · 13/09/2014 18:35

Bourjois pot ordered....thank you Mnetters. Flowers
