I'm new to this board and really, anything to do with style and beauty if I'm honest!

I'm approaching 30 this year but I'm dressing exactly how I did since I started to buy my own clothes in my teens. Jeans, T-shirt, trainers.

I walk everywhere as I don't drive and most places I go to are 30-45 mins walk from home and then obviously the same back again. (not including walking around shops)

I rely heavily on trainers as they are comfortable for that distance of walk, no blisters etc.

My question is, in an attempt to look more grown up and less scruffy, what shoes or boots can I buy that are comfortable over that kind of distance. I have ballet pumps, they are comfortable over short distance but blister over longer distances. (Pushing buggy if that makes any difference?)

I really am at a loss, we don't have money to take gambles on expensive shoes that I will only wear a couple of hours at weekends when DH can drive us around.

I rate Fly London, Softinos, El Naturalista and Next Sludge boots for comfort without looking frowsy.

Also if you are happy to wear the same boots and have them repaired then Conker boots POB (they have popper studs running up the side) with the wedge vibram sole are wonderful. They are expensive but incredibly hard wearing (we are talking at least a decade). They are handmade and very soft.

If you ring them up/email they send you samples of leather in whatever colours/finishes you want. The leather is in a different league to what you can buy in the shop. The Facebook page gives you a better idea. Their website is a bit limited and rubbish to be frank.

I posted a similar thread last week, and have since bought a pair of Josef Seibel "Dany" - they are technically trainers but feel more grown up (because a shoe brand that uses the slogan "The European Comfort Shoe" kind of feels grown up, ha!). I'm wearing them with a skirt and opaques to work today, they have been really comfy so far.

TBH if you walk that much, I would stick to trainers and think of how to look smarter in other ways - could you wear a denim or corduroy skirt and black opaques instead of the jeans, a breton top instead the t-shirts etc.?

Thanks for the replies! I will take a look at those suggestions now.

I fear that if I don 't start to shape up now I'll become an embarrassment to the kids at the school gates! Grin
