A quick bra question

I'm usually a 34H in Bravissimo own brand bras. I'm wearing the Melrose full cup today (I hate it but it's comfortable!) and I have a slight bulge at the top - it's definitely not quad boob but I know it's there - there's a hem on the inside of the cup and apparently I'm not the first to complain about it. The back feels fine so is it just a case of going up a cup size to 34HH? I'm reluctant to as I find the larger sizes usually come up high under the armpits but I don't mind giving it a try!

I understand the principle of bra sizing but I've confused myself with this one!

Thanks in advance.

The Melrose has a side sling to pull the breasts towards the front. If you find their balconettes better, it may just be that the Melrose is not quite the right shape for you.

Is the inside hem irritating you?

PinkSparklyElephant · 11/09/2014 10:40

The hem doesn't bother me but it pulls the cup slightly tighter across the top. For a full cup the Melrose gives a good shape and I went for it because I desperately need a plain bra as the Bravissimo balconnettes are patterned and I don't like the Alana as the material is scratchy and the wires dig in.

My biggest successes have been with the Tartan Fling, Bloomsbury and Paradise Fizz.

It sounds as if your boobs are slightly wider than the Alana wires allow for, and Panache cups sit too low or stab you in the armpit... If you can cope with a plunge, the Dixie in sky blue might be a compromise.
Calessi is likely to be the right shape but the wrong fabric.
The current season has Bloomsbury back again in darker blue. If you were trying to get a smooth line, their Purity t shirt bra ticks most of your boxes although it won't win any beauty contests! It may flatten you slightly but I couldn't say for sure.
The Freya Marvel may also well be worth a try in a GG.

You've summed up Panache very well! I love their bras and they give me a lovely shape but I can't stand them attacking my armpits! I tend to fall out of plunge bras unfortunately Blush

I'll have a look at Calessi, I must have missed that one - thank you!

I've got a Purity but I find it bulky - it's one of those things that I need to have for certain clothes and no other moulded bra seems to suit my shape. It does flatten a bit but it's not too bad.

I'll have a look at the Freya Marvel as well. I tried the Jem yesterday and the 34H was huge in the back and the gore of the 32HH wouldn't sit flat on my chest. I phoned Bravissimo and they suggested going up to a J cup but I worry that will be too big under my arms.

What I really need is for Bravissimo to make a balconette bra in the shape of the Bloomsbury but in a plain material, and possibly a moulded version. I don't want much do I?!

Thank you for your suggestions. I love the bra threads on here, everyone is so knowledgeable and helpful!

The trick with Freya's is that if they have 3 hooks in the band after G cup, you have to go down a back and up a cup. However, the shape often then becomes too shallow for anyone who's breasts project even slightly!

I don't think you want much at all Grin

PinkSparklyElephant · 11/09/2014 12:56

Aaah, I didn't know that! I agree about the shape being shallow. I'm not sure going up to a J cup was the answer, especially for my smaller side, so I've ordered a Calessi to give it a try.

I think I need to win the lottery and then I could have the perfect bra made for me!
