Castor Oil for thicker hair?

I've been looking for solutions to the pathetically thin ends of my hair. They look weak even when just trimmed. I have hypothyroidism which obviously doesn't help. Anyway, I have been reading good things about castor & sweet almond oils : apply & leave in overnight before washing in the morning - this type of treatment.

Any first hand experience here?

I washed my hair yesterday using my regular shampoo & conditioner (first time since initial castor oil treatment). I left it to dry naturally as my natural wave seems to have reappeared! It dried thicker & softer (altho not as shiny as when blow dried after treatment but still healthy looking). I applied a tiny amount of sweet almond oil (a drop max) to the ends once dried. They are much improved. Having slept on it I was expecting to have to put it in an updo today but the ends are still sitting beautifully - fuller & like they were in my 20s!

I'll be doing another castor oil treatment tonight - my goal being twice a week, giving me 2 regular washes inbetween. So thrilled with the results.

Well prepare to be stalked and worshiped in the morning Ujjayi, I am sitting here with a lovely sticky head (that stuff is thick), I had to start on BP meds last week as well and apparently they will make my hair fall out too, I have never felt so un-glamorous and OLD! Grin

Not a glamorous look is it. Smile
I did a treatment last night and had run out of shower caps, so used a carrier bag. Kept it on for hours, praying no one would come to the door.
But also have shiny, soft hair today. I mixed mine with coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil.

I normally have quite wavy hair but yesterday I had a head full of mini-ringlets, not frizzy ones either Smile and my hair still feels soft today. Where's the OP so I can give her a big squish and then follow her around slavishly forever!

I did think how much my Saturday nights have changed though, sat in my pyjama's with an oil slick for a head! Only I could see me though so who cares, didn't stop me watching crap tv and having a good sleep. I'll smooth a bit of coconut oil in as well next time, which I want to do tonight as having hair that soft is a bit addictive.
