Wrap dresses...

Has anyone seen any nice ones about? I have a smart occasion coming up and will need breastfeeding access so think this is my only option really.

Trouble is I look like a short fat Duchess of Cambridge, worried a wrap dress might just highlight the fact. Have had a browse but can't find many and wondering if I'm missing somewhere.

I would normally go for separates but it works out cheaper to buy a dress I think. Budget around £50-60.

I'm size 10, hourglass, but need something that is forgiving on the stomach area. Very forgiving. Like Jesus forgiving.

Thanks.

How do you pronounce Baukjen?

Quejica · 11/09/2014 21:39

Clara, I tie at the side not the back.

Laura Ashley are surprisingly good at wrap dresses - I hardly ever buy from there but when I do, it's a wrap dress. The material has a heaviness that hangs well - very flattering.

goldenlab, have you tried wrap dresses in a patterned fabric. I only get that square lumpy look in a plain fabric. I find the lumps and bumps get lost in a pattern.

Thank you burnished - no I've only tried black ones. Will take your suggestion and try on when I'm out next week.

Yes to Boden, phase eight, John Lewis.

I'm a 16/18 and only wear them as I'm hourglass shaped. My stomache is definitely the smallest part of my body but I still wear big knickers, not necessarily shapewear though.

Nancy Dee have some lovely ones in their sale - its just started!

To update this - I tried quite a few on, including a lot that were mentioned on here, and came to the conclusion that wrap dresses do not suit me! It's a shame as there were some lovely ones but they sit in all the wrong places on me. The result of this thread is that I've closed the door on them.

Thanks to mrslettuce for your suggestions as they led me to look at some different shapes and try styles I wouldn't have found on my own, and I ended up with something I felt great in (and could feed in!)

For me it's buttons, and a bit of structure and shaping via darts, neckline etc. and not too much excess material. I feel like I've got a much better idea of where to start in future.

Flowers everybody.
