Never done red before. Not sure what to think. Opinions?

But sorry I am being rude... thank you for helping me TRY to understand Smile

SofaCanary · 11/09/2014 00:55

Wow Shock

I think that kind of wedge is not the most attractive thing, but worth if you need to be at less of an incline/need the comfort, and want the elevation. I am thinking of getting some Smile.

Having said that I don't really like these as the combination of wedge and red lace ups reminds me of stilt/clown shoes. I do like wedges and red shoes, just maybe a different style upper. If you love them though, go for it!

ageingdisgracefully · 11/09/2014 07:27

I think of them as brogues, which I KNOW are trendy at the moment. Just with a wedge. I agree with the orthopaedic idea. I had to show my friend the little Fly stamp to convince her they were actually fashion shoes.

I bought mine as an alternative to summer sandals, which I hate.

noddyholder · 11/09/2014 07:28

So bad don't know what try would go with. Colour nice

You need thin calves to wear these, or it's clumpsville.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/09/2014 12:30

ageingdisgreacefully, I have had to do that with my fly sandals. I have had some very dubious reactions. I have decided that as none of my other clothes are what you might call cutting edge I might not get away with those shoes. I do love them though.

ageingdisgracefully · 11/09/2014 16:33

Not just me, then, humphrey! I'm hardly cutting edge myself, and I've spent all morning trying to think what else these shoes could go with. I think it's definitely an arty look. Maybe dungarees? Baggyish cropped trousers and fitted jumper? I think short hair too, or with a scarf tied around head. Sort of Bananarama meets Cos.

It's what I would expect a student to wear back in the day. Now students seem to look like everyone else.....

NanooCov · 11/09/2014 16:35

The style is not very nice I'm afraid. Colour good but also look a bit plasticky?

ageingdisgracefully · 11/09/2014 17:02

Nanoo are they supposed to be "nice", though? I'd say funky, perhaps cool, edgy maybe but not nice as such. They're unconventional, certainly, but no more hideous than many styles in the shops, imho.

squoosh · 11/09/2014 17:09

If Christmas elves were a real thing they would wear those shoes.

NickNackNooToYou · 11/09/2014 17:41

I love red shoes but not those ones, they're pretty hideous but it's just my opinion and WTF do I know Wink

NedZeppelin · 11/09/2014 18:09

Wow, not much love for my new shoes then apart from the colour... Ah well, I've got them and I'm going to wear them. I'll look out for the eyes glancing down and the 'orthopaedic footwear' thought bubbles coming out of people' heads Wink. Btw they are definitely not plasticky, a beautiful soft red leather... Thanks for all your opinions.

I'm a bit late to the party Grin, but I love the shoes.

ageingdisgracefully · 11/09/2014 18:31

Glad to hear it, Ned. Let us know how you get on?

hiccupgirl · 11/09/2014 18:41

I love them too! But I love quirky different shoes so they're very much my things and red too so what's not to like.

I love red and burgundy shoes and wear mine whenever I can.

temporaryusername · 12/09/2014 02:27

Orthopaedic footwear is nothing to be ashamed of. I know they're not, just saying Smile.
