Is it so wrong to keep it? I don't ever intend to be pregnant again, but it is just so lovely. I was trying on loads in debenhams and I really loved this dress, which is green and from Red Herrring (not on the website, have checked)> I think the only think that makes it 'maternity' as such is the empire line, but that is the only shape of dress which suits me, and it doesn't appear any longer at the front like other maternity dresses or have extra room at the front. What is the meaning of all this?! I know I still have a slight tummy from dd but I am slightly miffed that the only thing which looked vaguely nice on me is maternity If I wear it will peopple think I am pregnant?!

I'd keep it iiwy. I once had a maternity jumper, I was only 16 years old or so, and didn't become pregnant for another ten years, by which time it was fairly old but I still insisted on wearing it when I was pregnant. Then of course when I did become pregnant I found very few matenity clothes that actually fitted.

Oh, I tried one of those on today - they are lovely, look great over trousers.

sweetmonkey · 23/09/2006 19:49

dont worry you are not alone. i bought a red herring top and it wasnt until id worn it a couple of times that i noticed the maternity label on it as i was putting it in the wash. i too was very as i am not pregnant

Gingerbear - I think I saw you're pregnant on another thread? So that means you have an excuse to buy one!

Why is it that when I was pregnant I couldn't find anything that looked nice, and now that I'm not (just a year later), there are suddenly three new maternity clothes shops in my town and finally our branch of H &M has got a maternity section!

incy · 24/09/2006 10:15

All very well if you don't have to wear them - they still don't sell anything you would wear if you were actually pregnant and had to ! Why is it that there are only nice maternity clothes around when not actually pregnant ?

foxtrot · 24/09/2006 10:21

Cut the label out in case anyone sees it? I admired someone's top yesterday, not sure if maternity or not (she's pregnant) but want one anyway. Maternity clothes are so nice now it's enough to make you broody (almost).

Stiglet · 24/09/2006 11:05

I had a lovely maternity top from H&M but can't bring myself to wear it now I'm not pregnant.. I may be pursuaded otherwise now though

Dawnybabe · 26/09/2006 21:43

Would anyone care to tell me where they keep seeing all these lovely maternity clothes? Cos as far as I can see there's bugger all out there for us blooming ones! And what there is, is usually a bit overpriced, IMO. I find the maternity ranges a bit limited, unless it's just me assuming I can still shop for England now I'm pregnant. I've had a few bits from Next, Blooming Marvellous, a couple of bits from Mothercare and Verbaudet and I'm kinda running out of inspiration....

incy · 27/09/2006 08:38

Completely agree dawnybabe....all maternity clothes I find are hideous ...where am I going wrong?

Stiglet · 27/09/2006 08:41

Fact: There is only ever nice maternity wear when you're not pregnant

katierocket · 27/09/2006 09:05

Dawnybabe - Top Shop and H&M do some OK stuff. Or try isabella oliver if you have more money.

Dawnybabe · 01/10/2006 21:44

Have spent enought money as it is, but might try H&M. Thanks everyone.

Just heard today that Warehouse are bring out a maternity range. Here's the preview link:

Still can't work out why Gap don't sell their maternity range in the UK. Just been to the US and pick up quite a few nice things. Not too expensive either.
