Bravissimo fitting needing to try 17 bras is normal right?

And after trying on the 17 bras the 2 best fits that I bought I'm really not blown away with.

I walked in with a worn out 34f which she said was a good fit so she started at that size. I wanted something that came in nude and black, that didn't give me a round side boob shape and didn't have a really thick obv through clothes seam.

I came away with a 32FF nude Tango which is alright but I'm really aware of my arm pit fat in it

The other was the Porcelain moulded bra in black which is getting posted out to me I think that's 34FF, the hugeness of it scared me and I wasn't keen on how the underwire seemed really low down on my ribs but these 2 were the best of a bad bunch, if I had a quid for every lacy balconette she had me try on that I spilt out or jiggled about in urgh

There was one that fit lovely and comfy she said it was £41 but it was a tshirt one that made me all side booby so no good

All in all a pretty disappointing visit
Although in fairness I think the biggest problem was that I fell inbetween sizes

I am very small with large boobs. Every fitting experience in a Bravissimo has been awful and I've never got on well with the bras. I know lots of people like them but they don't suit my shape.

Actually I've never had a good fitting experience anywhere. I've tried M&S, John Lewis, Rigby & Peller....lots of them seem to try and put me in stiff, enormous bras that dominate my figure, cut into me and generally make me feel hideously out of proportion. Or that make me look like I am 1% woman, 99% boobs, a la pornstar. I've ended up self fitting from a mix of brands.

This is no help to you. Sorry. I just wanted to commiserate on rubbish bra fittings.

beccajoh · 07/09/2014 14:48

I'm not a massive fan of Bravissimo either. I think they're useful if you've no idea what size you should be and/or have recently been fitted into a 38C at M&S but your under bust measurement is 30 inches.

The tango comes up very high under my arms and it bloody uncomfy AFAIC. I'm much more comfy ordering a load of bras from Figleaves and trying on at home. Bravissimo invariably only has a few bras in my size for some reason.

Freya bras from Bravissimo are good, in my view.

Notonaschoolnight If you out the Tango on and scoop everything into the cup (making sure you reach round into the armpit and back) what happens to the cups?

The Porcelain is a lot of bra! TBH many people struggle with moulded bras so it does sound like this may be the case with you. It certainly shouldn't be sitting low down on your ribs. I'd return it and ask for another fitting.

You will get some wobble (cakes on a plate loo) with half cups but a lot of wobble usually indicates that you need a bigger cup. During a fitting (for a bra I haven't tried before), I also do a vigorous scoop while trying each bra. Invariably, I need to go up a cup.

Did you try the Panache Idina or the Cleo Juna? Panache and Cleo (same company) bra tend to much better at avoiding that East/West look.

BikeRunSki · 07/09/2014 17:37

I had a fitting at John Lewis once where I must have tried on 15 bras, and the only one that fitted was the Panache Porcelain in a 32E. I went in a 36DD. A year later the 2 I could afford at the time still fit well.

Notonaschoolnight · 07/09/2014 18:31

Sorrel definitely tried on Idina in the wrong size but can't remember what that size was I liked it and was gutted she didn't have the next size in stock, perhaps ill exchange the porcelain for that, but I'd have to order loads of sizes I was in 32-34 F FF & G yesterday I wasn't following the sizes by the end

Didn't try a Juna but I like the look of it

The Juna is a very comfy bra indeed which suits loads of people. It's definitely worth a try. Be aware that the lace trim doesn't sit flat on everyone so it's worth tucking it into the cup when assessing the fit.

If you're a 32 in the Tango then I'd expect you to be a 32 in the Idina. Perhaps try an FF/G as underarm bulge is often a sign that the cup needs to be bigger.

Notonaschoolnight · 08/09/2014 08:06

Sorrel thank you I'll try and do an exchange for those idina sizes once it arrives but its a shame the style doesn't appear on the panache website only a moulded one which I guess means its discontinued

That's odd as it's definitely still for sale at Bravissimo. You can get a blossom colour (good for not showing through white tops) too at My Curves & Me.

I think it's a good seller for Panache so I'd be amazed if they discontinued it. I'm now a bit panicky so will be contacting them later to find out!

Cleo are bringing out nude and black versions of their Marcie bra sometime over the next few months. If you get on with the Idina balconette then the www.bravissimo.com/products/sale/lingerie/sensational-sets/marcie-bra/purple/cl100pur/? Marcie]] should work too.

The best advice I had on here for bras was links to the online shops; now I know my general size I order loads online, try on at home in comfort - sitting and walking in all the natural positions you never do in a shop - and then I know I have got a good fit and also I don't feel pressured to buy.
