I use a toothpaste called Jacintha (?) something beginning with a 'J'! It's stupid expensive for toothpaste (£11) but usually on offer in Boots. Also an electric toothbrush helps. I got mine whitened a few years ago and it lasted about 2months Confused

Thanks, i was thinking an electric toothbrush might make a difference so i think i will get one! Will have a look out for the toothpaste.

What's oil pulling? I have yellowish teeth too :/

I discovered oil pulling on here, everyone was raving about it! I use coconut oil and basically you swish it around your mouth, like mouthwash, pulling it around your teeth and then spit it out. I do it before cleaning my teeth but not sure if that's right.
its meant to be brilliant for your dental health as the oil pulls out bacteria etc

I had custom moulds made at the dentist along with 10 syringes of whitening stuff, it cost about 150, i can buy the prpoer whitening stuff online myself now that i have the moulds. It really whitened my teeth and the original stuff lasted about a year.
It was just my ordinary dentist not one of these fancy places, you should ask your own dentist.

Matildathecat · 02/09/2014 19:36

Me, I've done it all. Toothpastes, moulds with gel and laser. For me the moulds and gel work best and if I say so myself my teeth are nice and white. Not Hollywood veneers, just normal and fresh looking.

Do get the moulds made properly at the dentist and personally I only buy the gel from the dentist, too. I worry about fake products online.

If you have sensitive teeth use Sensodyne before starting treatment. You can use the gel as much or little as you like. I did about two weeks initially ( then had the laser which didn't make much difference at all). Then a few more days. After that I just top up very occasionally if I feel like it.

Have to say I struggle with sleeping with the moulds in so use a stronger strength gel for shorter periods of time.

Hope that helps. Smile

Clinomyn smokers toothpaste. Get it from the supermarket for about £2. Use it for a week or so and you will notice the difference.

FamiliesShareGerms · 02/09/2014 19:59

Smokers toothpaste, but rubbed onto your teeth with your finger then brushed off with a good electric toothbrush . Only once a week, as it is abrasive

Lj8893 · 02/09/2014 20:24

Oooo i didn't think about using smokers toothpaste! My dp uses it sometimes as he's a smoker so i shall steal his!

Janina us the name of that toothpaste.
I haven't seen a great difference.

Pearl drops have just brought out a new whitening system 'pure'
www.boots.com/en/Pearl-Drops-Pure-White-Whitening-Kit_1487458/

I'm giving it a try as the crest white strips were making my teeth sensitive and the zoom laser hurt like crazy for the rest of the day.

Try hydrogen peroxide, sounds odd but it works a treat!!

i've used quite a few whitening toothpastes but fine, for the cheaper end of the spectrum, beverly hills worked ok for mine, arm & hammer was pretty rubbish. i do also use an electric toothbrush. have always been put off with the gels etc as teeth are already quite sensitive.

OneLittleLady · 03/09/2014 10:32

Eurucryl (sp?) it's a green powder you dip a wet toothbrush into. Cheap but very effective, especially when coupled with an electric toothbrush

OneLittleLady · 03/09/2014 10:33

Should say, it's very abrasive so only use once or twice a week

Sorry for double post btw
