Any advice? Semi-permanent dye issues

Hi, any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated :)

I've just used Directions Pillarbox Red semi-permanent on my lightish brown long hair. All ok, except it's darker and more purpley than I wanted! I should have used a different shade, probably Fire or even something orangey. Argh.

I'm going away next week. What's my best move to be able to get it a lighter, more orangey red by Friday? Would you wash and wash and wash and then put on the lighter shade? If I do this, will I end up with sludge colour? My hair was au naturel before this and has had no bleach, lighteners etc. Is there a not-too-evil lightening/stripping thing I could use to remove this colour and put on the other?

As you can tell I don't generally do stuff to my hair and am boring, dowdy and clueless, as well as now too purpley. Help me S&B!!

You can buy colour remover although I'm not sure how harsh it is on your hair. Otherwise repeated washes with anti dandruff shampoo will remove some of it and fade it at least.

Anti-dandruff? Brilliant. Thanks Petallic, and will look up colour remover.

Head and Shoulders or Vosene will fade colour. Not sure any semi will effectively lighten though.

repeated washing will get rid of most of the dye. I've used directions for years and that's what I did. if your hair wasn't bleached before you used it, you should have little to no problems getting rid of most of the dye unless your hair is particularly porous. Head and shoulders or Johnsons baby shampoo are good at drawing colour out. I shouldn't think you'd need anything like colour b4 which can be very harsh on hair.
