What weekend shoes are your Year 7 girls wearing?

Dd2 is going into Year 7. She has new school shoes and would like some Uggs when it gets colder. But she needs some casual shoes for weekends in the meantime.

2 problems - she's a bit dyspraxic and struggles with tying bows. Also her ankles pronate and she wears orthotics so shoes need to be supportive if possible (I know Uggs give terrible support and the physio actually advised against them but for I've said yes to her in an attempt to balance support and fashion. She'll be wearing supportive school shoes most of the week anyway).

Any ideas? Ideally a shoe that will go with skirts and trousers.

My dd is wearing Vans at the mo. I think Uggs are horrible & look awful with feet slopping around in them.

Last year my DD wore clarks suede ankle boots, which looked great, but this year she's a size 6.5, so will have o look for different options. I'm thinking Next (or clarks womens) ballet pumps & boots.

HTH

Mine is wearing Converse, but that will be difficult with lace tying...

I second trying Next for their shoes and boots. Last year we had some nice black hi-top boots in leather/fabric with velcro fastenings - they we a bit of an Ash rip-off and looked good, were reasonably priced and presumably offered a fair amount of ankle support.

Good luck with the search!

Converse - they look great with everything when you're 11. I'd try to get her cool trainers rather than uggs - better for her feet. Kids tell me hi tops and the thing.

jujus and vans and converse at the moment (she doesn't wear school uniform). I'm informed (by her older sister) though that the ONLY shoes that she should be wearing are Nike Air

My DD has trainers at the moment; but last year got her brown mid-length boots from Clarks, they were from the adult section though, but looked fab

My DD over pronstes aswell and says nike air hitops are 'in' in her school! They have support! And for the uggs? I don't know sorry Blush

About to start Year 8 and lives in Vans and Converse.

Dancergirl · 01/09/2014 09:22

Thanks. Actually last year dd had some hi tops with Velcro fastenings made by Ecco which she loved.

You can't wear hi tops with skirts though can you?

You can get no-lace Converse or use Locklaces

Dancergirl · 01/09/2014 09:26

Forgot to say dd is only a size 2 so it'll have to be the childrens department.

Just googled lock laces.

So you can use them on any shoes? This opens a whole world of possibilities now for dd, thanks Smile

Hi tops look great with skirts - depends on their style...dd likes the whole mismatched patterns and colours, it really suits her.

LIZS · 01/09/2014 09:58

ds used Locklaces with walking boots and trainer style shoes but guess they will suit most. Triathletes use them to swap shoes during a race.

Dd wears converse I've just got her some leather hi top ones she'd love uggs but can't get them over her afos as hers are full foot with ankle ones.
